A Maurer S??????hne X-Car designed to push boundaries. Specifically weird elements. I apologize for the painfully simple layout, but this is my first time custom supporting, so I didn't want to make it too confusing while trying to figure it out. Hopefully you'll have fun anyway
Technique Trackwork - I feel there were some trackwork issues with the ride that needed addressing such as:
The holding brake curve had a huge pump in it - I think this would be better as a more consistent curve. You also had a trim on the first drop... this seems kind of silly - you should have tweaked the pull up, drop or both to avoid this.
First turn needed a bit more work to iron out the bump in it - the second turn however was decent and smooth!
Shaping after the saxophone element was a bit odd, felt you could've dealt with the airtime hill a bit better shaping wise as it pumped/bumped its way into it!
Technically speaking the ride was fairly basic in terms of construction - I only say this as scoring wise I need a way to differentiate between a ride like this and a ride that has more complex angles and routes, almost like a difficulty factor!
Supports - Second best thing about this ride for sure (apart from uniqueness). I thought throughout the ride it was supported adequately and pretty efficiently as well. I especially liked the way you used the two A frames on the saxophone element - limiting the need for several footers in the process. Both that and the first drop support work were extremely good - I look forward to when you get chance to support a spaghetti bowl style ride to see what you come up with!
Scenery - The terrain aroun d the ride felt a bit... simplistic perhaps. It seemed very very flat where your ride was and then you have these massive shear hills around the outside. I think ideally you need to work on getting a smoother more varied terrain - and continue to use the terratextures correctly (this was a definite positive on your ride)
Adrenaline Pacing / Layout - This ride suffered really badly from pacing - and the sole reason why is that the rollercoaster felt like 3 separate rides / ideas stitched together without much thought. It was too stop start for me to really get excited about it. The best I could compare to is probably El Loco models - despite all the MCBR's they keep on going and the track continues to flow through each one - whereas your sections felt really disjointed from one another. The ride needed a layout basically, rather than a collection of ideas.
Your first drop was pretty intense and I liked that (where you got almost all your marks here). The holding brake over the river/lake was definitely a quality idea (new underwear please!). The saxophone was a great idea too, I just think you needed to tweak the brakes as it practically left the element slower than it entered!
Forces - Forces were all in check - I'd have liked to see some better positives on the turns however - especially as the overbank had too much bank on it (positive laterals means you're falling out the right hand side of the ride)
Uniqueness Layout / Elements - FIrst half of your ride was clearly very impressive. The first drop was really inventive and was a great addition. The saxophone is another element you don't see very often either so I'm glad you added that in too! Only other comments on the layout relate to the adrenaline category in that the layout itself wasn't inventive enough.
Scenery - It was fairly run of the mill style scenery but I felt you used the lake/river well for the drop so props for that.
Realism
Tech/Adren/Uniq - My main issue was that a lot of your unique ideas weren't executed in a particularly realistic manner. I felt the holding brake probably needed a little more of a lead in after the chain lift just to make the transfer between chains better. As mentioned the saxohphone speed control could have done with some work too.
Buildability - I think that you had yourself a buildable ride. Nothing was over the top crazy and the support work as I mentioned was really good.
The ride would have benefited with some additional supporting scenery - just to help make a more believable scene (be that made out of supports or 3DS)
I really enjoyed what you made. Very unique ride! The first half of the ride, I didn't know what direction the ride was going to go. It was disorientating but in a good way. The ride was filled with excitement and kept my adrenaline pumping. Just need a little work on your trackwork but nothing major. Really liked this and wish there was a real one built somewhere that I could ride.
Not a bad track but it does need its tweaks. Technique wise, the rise after the launch felt like it needed to be smoothed out a bit as it feels jerked into it. Some IRL rides do this and the support goes right into the stomach and its not a pleasent feeling. I like your drop into the water, that was really neat to experience. The loop was wobbly, like as if the track wasn't aligned right. You had a good mix of stuff going on that provide adequate adrenaline and thrill. The layout is unique and I like all the trees around it. I wish more rides had trees for theming versus random blank space or buildings. They really add a lot for me in terms of theme and experience. Realism, I don't see why it can't be real. Just need to smooth out the entry after the launch and that loop needs to get sorted out and it would be good to go in my opinion. Rider value, its spot on, I definitely would ride this a couple more times irl.
I wish more NL2 designers would think out of the box like this! Love the supports, love the innovation and a really strong fun ride with beautiful scenery. i don't feel the layout is too simple at all. Look at Vekoma's Big Air, it's a gaint "U" and doesn't even spin and gets rave reviews. I think the length and intensity of the design adds to the realism, and I can't think of anything its missing so don't undersell it!
Issues: I really don't feel there are many and the ones I've noticed are fairly small
It seems a bit over braked, especially on the Sax
And I wish the zero G roll was taken just a bit faster
That's all I have for issues.
What's keeping it from an almost perfect score for me is the braked pacing, some parts seem over supported, and it would be really expensive to dive under a riverbed like that I would imagine. Even still, its a new favorite coaster of mine and I'll probably be looking to it for ideas on creating my own rides in the future!
