I can't even... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/7122362/Alton-Towers-riders-left-screaming-and-crying-as-ride-breaks-down-mid-loop.html

Guess I must have missed the riders "screaming in fear for their lives" when I was standing literally 5 feet away from the ride...

Air does a good job at silencing the screams of fear :D

Here's a comment on the Daily Mail post

"What is going on in this amusement parks
What happen to the safety of people using this rides
My god the people r meters above the earth
If it was not Gods grace
More lives could have been lost
Don't they do inspections to the roller coasters before allowing people on it"

In the article there was also this line "Some visitors suggested the heavy rain may have caused the ride's electrics to trip, stopping it suddenly in mid-air"

They grammar gud...

Also, they are acting like this has never happened before when it has. When it was 'Air' it broke down quite frequently and there were never any news reports then. Ever since the tragic Smiler incident the media has took any small incident and blown it WAY out of proportion. For example: last year two cars on the 'Spinball Whizzer' (Sonic Spinball) lightly nudged each other on the final brakes. No one was seriously injured and yet the media was saying stuff like "Horror holiday as riders left stranded meters in the air when two carriages crash into each other at full speed". I seriously feel sorry for Merlin.

Roller coaster is flooded yet the park keeps the ride open! Riders fear the risk of drowning when diving into the flooded area!

"I'm amazed people still go on these type of rides"
"Oh dear not again, call in elf n safety ok!"
???Why are people so stupid enough to go on these things?"
"They were upside down! Stuck! In the middle of a loop! This ride is clearly unsafe and should be burned down!" This only was only built last month and should be safe!"

I have never known people so gullible...I mean, the image clearly shows the ride is not upside down or in the middle of a loop...

"Burned down"

This is so saddening and frustrating. The media have no idea about anything and it pisses me off so much. So sad to see this park closing so many rides and making excuses for it.

I stayed at the chained oak bed and breakfast just weeks ago and it broke my heart to hear all rhe great stories they had and the horrible state Alton is in because of the media.

Give it some time and the media will grow tired of picking on Alton Towers and will climb onto another sensationalist bandwagon.

Genuinely, do Alton Towers have a case for Libel here? It's not even like this is the first time the press have printed essentially the exact same story in the last few months.

If I were the legal team, I'd be seriously looking into this, because these articles are all over the internet, and they're verging on being flagrantly false. At the very least, deliberately misleading.

Even a co-worker excitedly came into my office yesterday and said "Alton Towers have had another accident, haven't they? That new ride got stuck upside down!". I just facepalmed, and tried to calmly explain that reading The Sun is much worse for your health than riding roller coasters.

If you stare at the sun trying to read it long enough, you could go blind ;) ;)

That might explain why those people are making such comments. They're too blind to look further.
