YESSS FINALLLYYY I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOREVERRRR
And clearly I never should have trusted Screamscape to get there before me =P

A pretty serious and badly needed waterpark expansion, like we predicted.

It features 2 nearly vertical 90 foot slides! And then a trap door deck with two drop slides and two helix slides! This will be so amazing and a beautiful choice expansion for the currently decent waterpark.

Additional Info 9/13
Breaker's Plunge will be the 7th tallest of its kind (free-fall non-trapdoor plunge slide). Call it a lengthy title but it's actually pretty impressive and all I've ever wanted was a super tall and steep plummet slide that didn't rip up your back so I'm excited as f. I suspect more excitement may follow when the slope value is realized, although I already imagine it to be the White Water West standard (the manufacturer of these decks as well as most modern innovative water park experiences.) Which is still pretty amazing.

P.S. I know Screamscape says the Breakers Plunge will also be a trap door slide, but that must be wrong. It's obvious by the cartoon and the lack of "platform drop" in the official announcement description.

I'm assuming those will not be trap door style.

That might somehow actually be a little scarier than the trapdoor version but IDK.

I'm happy it won't be trap door! The crest will be amazing and 90 feet is quite high for a water slide! And I do believe this steep drop slide will be much more comfortable than the current ones at VF. So excited.

Is this another disguised "make a crappyish looking area look prettier" new ride/revamp like the Gemini Midway additions at CP or a legitimately new area in the waterpark? I'm not too familiar with Valleyfair

So Valleyfair just spontaneously announced this today? When will Dorney announce their 2015 plans?

^^ it's a completely new area with 6 new waterslides, two of them 90 feet tall, and a new kids playset. It's a legitimate expansion.

^ yes haha I just happened to be browsing the website when it was released! It wasn't even on the home page... And I couldn't give two f***s about Dorney's announcement lol.

Ah cool glad it's more of an expansion than one of the "hey we fixed this" updates. Mantis' relocation to Dorney should be announced later.

The new slides look awesome! But I'm gonna be mad if only kids are allowed in the water playground (which really should have been bigger)

I have too much respect for you for posting semi-intelligent material daily... It cancels out.

Also Gerst stopping by to add something new about the water park expansion:

I am very excited about this waterpark expansion. Valleyfair has received nothing thrilling since Renegade in 2007, so this is a much appreciated expansion. All of the slides on the slide tower look like tons of fun. I can't wait to try them out. The new splash pad is pretty small (about the size of one you'd find at a local city waterpark), but it's understandable because Soak City is landlocked as it is. The one negative thing about it is that it prolongs our wait for a new roller coaster even more, but fortunately, I've heard a few rumors of a possible new coaster in 2016. ;)

Sorry about the double post, but Valleyfair posted the pictures of the new trapdoor slide parts that recently arrived at the park on Facebook. Once the actual slide tower gets built, it will look great. Can't wait to check these slides out once they are open.
