IMPORTANT NOTE: resetting the ride whilst in the simulator can cause the onboard audio to have some issues, so just either restrart the park or only reset the ride whilst it is in the station. Additionally, speeding or slowing the park can cause audio to get out of sync.

Journey into the barren landscape of The Writer's world and face Ten Speed - a demonic bicycle created by his troubled mind. Experience an insane ride with a 55mph launch, airtime and high Gs. Brace yourselves for the unwritten end...

1 year ago, I discovered Coheed and Cambria. They became one of my all time favourite bands within the space of a few months - I loved their music, especially their 3rd album 'Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 1: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness'. 10 months ago I began to draw up the concept for a second Coheed and Cambria coaster, and today it is finally complete.

The backstory behind this ride stems around the Amory Wars comic books (written by Coheed's lead singer Claudio Sanchez) - in particular the Writer. After suffering heartbreak, The Writer (a Godlike figure in the comics, who controls the fictional universe in the story) regresses and begins to lose his sanity. He is haunted by delusions, including a possessed version of his stolen bike. This creature is Ten Speed (an embodiment of all The Writer's anger and vengeance). Ten Speed attempts to get The Writer to end the story for his own selfish reasons - who knows what effects this could have?

Coaster Inspiration:

The coaster itself itself is a classic 2005-era Vekoma Motorbike. Ten Speed was highly inspired by Velocity at Flamingoland, as well as Toverland's Booster Bike. I wanted to create a layout similar to Velocity (that was fast paced and low to the ground) but with more airtime and more excitement. The ride maxes out at 3.1G positive and -0.5G negative (well within the G limits for a motorbike coaster).

Offride Music:

Front Room/Entrance - 'Keeping The Blade' and 'Once Upon Your Dead Body'
Station - 'The Suffering'
Shed/Gift Shop - 'Mother May I'
Exit Corridor - 'The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut'

All songs by (and property of) Coheed and Cambria, taken from the album 'Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 1: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness'.

Onride Music:

A unique feature of Ten Speed is the onboard audio. Ten Speed has 10 soundtracks ('Thrilling Wells') which can play whilst you are on the ride. Ride multiple times and see which soundtracks you get!

Please note, some Thrilling Wells continue to play as you enter the station - to enjoy these to the end, turn "Music" volume to 0 in NL2 settings (so the station music does not disrupt them).

Thrilling Well I - 'One' and 'Far'
Thrilling Well II - 'Second Stage Turbine Blade' and '33'
Thrilling Well III - 'The Ring In Return' and 'Cuts Marked In The March Of Men'
Thrilling Well IV - 'Keeping The Blade' and 'Ten Speed (Of God's Blood and Burial)'
Thrilling Well V - 'The Reaping' and 'The Running Free'
Thrilling Well VI - 'The Willing Well III: Apollo II: The Telling Truth' and 'Apollo I: The Writing Writer'
Thrilling Well VII - 'The Ring In Return' and 'Three Evils (Embodied In Love and Shadow)'
Thrilling Well VIII - 'Pretelethal' and 'Gravity's Union'
Thrilling Well IX - 'The Audience', 'Island' and 'Eraser'
Thrilling Well X - 'The Willing Well I: Fuel For The Feeding End', 'The Willing Well II: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness' and 'The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut'

It's strange finally seeing this project end, but it's been totally worth it. Every trackwork question, every day spent custom supporting, every frustration 3D modelling - it's lead up to this. And I hope this project can give people even half as much joy as it's given me.

Coaster is very unique and awesome, love the house that it runs through and the speed that the coaster has too, keep up the great work :)

Put simply this is a really well put together coaster, I don't want to say that it's "nothing special" because that's far too harsh, it's perhaps a product of it's time almost - if you'd made this back in NL1 days this would be right up there with the top rides. The trackwork was really really solid and the G's all in check. The layout stayed true to the classic Vekoma Motorbike whilst having a little creativity and more airtime hills than the standard layout (a very good thing!). The 3ds were well done and I especially liked the mirror effect! Overall a really great ride, certainly one I intend to keep on my harddrive.

Feel free to pm me about your rate [:
