My goal with this coaster was to create a characteristic Gerstlauer that was relatively realistic (in height, length, elements, etc.), yet was unique and experimentative in its layout.
I named the coaster Nidhögg, the dragon in Norse mythology that gnaws on the roots of the World Tree, Yggdrasil ("the tree that holds up the sky"). It seemed appropriate as the coaster is built on and around a natural ridge, and from afar I thought that it looked as if the coaster was eroding (or gnawing) away the ridge.
