Info:
This is not a recreation of the original Minebuster, but more of an adaptation of the original design.
The original Mighty Canadian Minebuster (MCM) was modeled after the Shooting Star at Coney Island in Ohio. When the MCM was first built it was a thrilling and fun woodie but as the years passed and after Paramount took over operations at the park, the roller coaster was slowly retracked and reprofiled to accommodate the water park being built around it.
The profile of the ride today is very different from when it was first built and sadly, the ride has very little, if any airtime on any of its hills. The roughness of the ride is nothing to be proud of either.
In the end, what was once a thrilling roller coaster is now a giant wooden minetrain.
With this NoLimits creation I wanted to build the ride how I would have liked it to be built. With my recreation of the ride it now has airtime filled hills, it is smoother with no back breaking shuffling and jackhammering and the helix at the end actually has some lateral g's! Although I changed the profile of the hills, the basic layout is the same as the original MCM.
This is a ride built purely for my own pleasure and features many elements that I think every wooden coaster should have. I could and would ride this version of the MCM all day long if given the opportunity.
Hopefully you enjoy your ride on the Mighty Canadian Minebuster just as much as I do!
Notes;
- Thanks to all the people who tested this thing out and gave me some feedback
- Thanks to Hansixx for allowing me to use his Alpengluehn environment
- Thanks to Dj Tommy for texturing the tunnel
- Thanks to Real for the wood texture
- There is over 1500 trees in this track, so if you get really low fps, either turn down your settings or turn off scenery. The ride will still funtion without the scenery.
- Wide supports are 100% custom
- All textures are either from the OC or http://www.3dxtra.cygad.net - Sorry for the crappy 3ds objects, lol!
- The track packager is required to ride this track. You can get it here: http://tinyurl.com/9al74
wow this was amazing... ive never ridden the original one but this sure makes me want to! anyway, it was really smooth & fast-paced (mostly)! great job on this one [;)]
T: Very smooth, though a few slight bumps here and there, but they're hardly noticeable.
A: Slow at a few turns, it'd be better if it'd get moving more.
O: Optimize the 3ds, and try using stairs intead of ramps, and the texture map on the tunnel didn't follow the curve, but better than the crap I tried earlier. The layout was interesting with the crossovers and what not. Though the bank towards the brake run should be a bit more abrupt, but doesn't really matter.
Acc: I haven't ridden it before, can't really say anything here.
Quick rate here ... I was very glad to see you cleaned up some of the wiggles from the first version, but there are still a couple to contend with in and out of your turns, but nothing that would cause the train to kill me so no worries. The overall feel of this coaster is what impressed me the most. While the turn-around lagged just a hare for my tastes, my impression of MCM is that would do the same. Trackwork aside, the custom bracing is really where you excelled here, except for that tunnel supporting, well, it hurt the overall technical area. Adrenaline wise is was pretty consistent, but IMO not a whole bunch of fun. I had to do a little extra reading about MCM and what do you know, that is not a barrel of fun either. It almost reminds me of SOB -- lots of hype, not really that amazing when it is all said and done. Overall though, you have a great submission here and most certainly one to be proud of. Congrats.
I wish we had a recreation only catagory, as while technically this was a magnificent recreation, it wasn't really all that exciting. (Like the real think IMO) The trackwork was flawless, maybe the most realistic woodie I have ever seen. The support work was also fantastic with the only flaw I could find being that that tunnel is a little undersupported. That is after about 5 rides and a very close look at the trackwork (I try not to give out a 10 for technical very often). The environment did add to the feel and fun of the ride. An all together magnificent recreation!
Nice track, i actually looked like there was airtime, brilliant job. I dont think there could be anything to improve.plus i likes the sign at the top, keep making and keep riding. skullkeeperz
Technical: 10 because the track work was absolutely flawless!
Adrenaline: 10 Just like riding the real thing!
Originality: 10 sign on lift hill, all those custom supports. Did anyone notice the diagonal supports inside the structure? Custom station, etc. etc. etc.
Too bad the ride isn't like it was originally. I can imagine how you feel because I felt the same way when they demolished the Shooting Star at old Coney Island on Kellogg Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio. You did a great job in recreating the original Mighty Canadian Minebuster!
Woohoo i love this ride for the same reasons as Fiesta! Ton of airtime, great speed, and you even through some lats at us!
T: Very smooth. The g's are all well within standards. Theres not much to say but wow. I can see the tunnel being an issue, sorry i didnt notice it during many tests. Good job though!
A: I cant help but give you a ten. This had everything. Juts ditto to what i said uptop^^^
o:even though the layout is kinda blah, its a realistic coaster and it represents the real minebuster well. The 3ds added to this as well!
Well seings how i have never ridden this ride before i will just give ya an 8.5 for that because based on the pics i can assume that this is pretty accurate. Out and back coasters though tend not to thrill me as much a woodie with some tight turns and near misses will so adrenaline is a 7.5. I truly loved the skybox that was done for this ride and the amount of trees (my pc ran it at a cool 45 fps) and i really liked all the little touches that this ride had, 8 for tech.
