Here is my quick recreation of the Mighty Canadian MineBuster from my home park of Paramount Canada's Wonderland. This is the first 'big' woodie I had the chance to ride, so it is a special one . Although today the ride jackhammers extremely bad, and actually hurts to ride it . But anyways have fun.
The Mighty Canadian Minebuster (est. cost $1.2M) debuted with Wild Beast, Ghoster Coaster, and Dragon Fire when Canada's Wonderland first opened in 1981.
MCM is modeled after the Coney Island Shooting Star. Wonderland is the only Paramount park to have two roller coasters designed after the famed Coney Island coasters.
Notes: The supports, I know they arn't true to what is on the ride, but I just don't have hours to spend fiddling with the hundreds of annoying wooden poles on woodies.
And thanks to Matt for helping me with the supports on the helix.
(pictures of the coaster can be found here: http://pcwjunkies.com/pcw/coasters/mcm.htm)
Thanks for posting the website where one could see the real Mighty Canadian Minebuster.
The corporation that built Kings Island, Kings Dominion and Canada's Wonderland, which was Taft Broadcasting, Cincinnati, Ohio, tried to recreate the Shooting Star with the Mighty Canadian Minebuster. While it is similar to the Shooting Star, it is also very different. Here are the differences:
1. The first drop on the MCMB is not as steep as the Shooting Star.
2. The second hill, the hill after the first drop, is not as high as the Shooting Star's second hill.
3. The drop off the back turn on the MCMB is different than the Shooting Star's. The Shooting Star drop off the turn started while the train was still turning, making the drop a little faster and more gradual than the MCMB.
4. The final 360 turn before the station on the MCMB doesn't drop into the tunnel like the Shooting Star did.
5. The MCMB is a mirror image of the Shooting Star. That is the lift on the Shooting Star turned left while the MCMB turns right.
Due to the very different heights and designs of the hills on the MCMB I believe it does not really give a true feel of what it was like to ride the original Shooting Star that was at Coney Island, Cincinnati, OHIO. I have not ridden the MCMB so I can't really describe the ride like Chris. All I can say is that is would be different than the Shooting Star. That doesn't mean that one would be better than the other. It just means that they are very different in their ride experience.
Now to rate your recreation, after viewing the pics of the real one, I belive you did a good job. I'm looking forward to your next recreation of the MCMB.
The track is technically ok, is not themed. Adrenaline looks ok, but not too good, just is a "clon" of colossos at heyde park. Track could be a bit more smooth, and the banking after the last hill doesn't look too good done. Minor bumping. Too Airtime at the first hill.
Accuraty is ok, but this track loses a lot at theming... not themed, so it losts interest.
Sorry but there are a few parts in accurate. The hills were a bit high and the turn after the station was a lot tighter than the real thing. One major thing is that the turnaround goes straight then during a hill, it turns on the top of that hill. Pretty good though! Better than I can do...
