Wow, this is sad, hate to see parks like this come so close to closure.

Things are looking pretty grim for the park right about now.

A judge's ruling late Wednesday in Crawford County means that Conneaut Lake Park will likely go to a sheriff's sale this Friday to pay off its mounting real estate debt. The aging park property owes more than $925,000 in real estate taxes.

Last month the office of the PA Attorney General petitioned the court to halt the sale. The arguments, in part, that the property should be exempt from such a sale because it's part of a charitable trust, has deed restrictions, and may have been improperly assessed in the first place.

According to a report published in the Meadville Tribune, President Judge Anthony Vardaro denied the petition in a ruling handed down in Crawford County Court. That clears the way for a sheriff's sale, which according to the Economic Progress Alliance website, is scheduled for Friday morning at the courthouse. 12News/SEENews reached out to Mark Turner of the Alliance for reaction, but he did not return our calls.

Conneaut Lake Park may still file for bankruptcy protection and that move could once again put the sheriff's sale on hold.

Just don't employ stupid people and you're golden.

That's like finding a Waffle House with no white trash in it.
