Good idea to keep hold of those maps you've been collecting since you became an enthusiast as an original map of the first Disneyland park has fetched $708,000 (£555,838) at an auction in California.

Anyone here collect maps? What's the oldest map you have?

I have a Hersheypark map for its 1999 season, which was the first of 10 years of going to that park each year.

I found a park map from KBF from 1985 in my attic, and that's now my "prized" map.

Wow so much money for a colored piece of paper :o

A map of the Heide Park from 2001 is the oldest I have.

I wouldn't be surprised the state of this said map certainly weighed in on the price. My oldest maps and such are mostly used and quite worn. I doubt they would be worth anything above 2 numbers in that state.

This wasn't technically a map. It was Walt Disney's original concept drawing of the park which he used to try and gain investors.

That's like finding a Waffle House with no white trash in it.

If you insist on being pedantic it technically still is a map.

You've got to be a pretty big Disney fan to pay that sort of money for it.

I have a phantasialand map from 1988, I wasn't even born then. Thankfully my mom was a big Phantasialand map and kept it :)

^ As for myself, I was born in 1989 when GASM (Ouch but was sort of inspiring!) at SFGAdv made its debut! :D
