Get a '93 red used camry.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

I just got my first car about 4 months ago. 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GX Spyder (convertible), and it's proven to be a great car. I bought it with 100,000 miles, and it has no problems at all with the exception of a slightly loose belt. Mitsubishi is a really great make, and they last a LONG time.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

Lucky... my used camry came with 160000 miles on it and whenever you turn the heat on it smells like burnt electronics. Handles well though.

I have a '97 Chevy S-10. Besides handling horribly in the winter, which can actually be fun, its been a great little truck.

Don't get a Dodge Intrepid. I got one of those for my first car, and it looked like a good value at the time, a comfortable and nice-looking car for only $2150, but I had to pour over $4000 in maintenance into the damned thing during the 4 years I owned it.

For an first car, get something (relativly) cheap, reliable and low on fuel consumption.
So I'd get something at least 10/15 years old, japanese and no larger than a 2 liter enige in it.

My first car was a 1989 Mustang GT 5.0L... Ton of power for a first car. I'd say go with the Nissan 180sx...

Which is why they're in serious financial trouble. Also, it has a love Chrysler engine. Great job comparison shopping. I wish I had money to blow on a convertible. Also this:

Get your brakes checked. Seriously. If you die I don't give a poop but I don't want you taking anyone worth a damn with you.

My experience at an auto parts factory tells me it was the transmission primarily that did this. Did I guess right?

You really do know a ton of stupid people.

EDIT: As far as cars go, I'd recommend a Japanese car like others have said since the big three have been in their "lets make it fall apart after 6 years" phase up until around 3-4 years ago (IF they learned, time will tell). The Japanese never really sprung for that idea thankfully.

Also don't buy with your dick and/or your inner child. Yeah a beat up Firebird or Mustang is nice but you don't want to be dumping thousands into it and getting miles per gallon in single digits. What is the point of having a 150mph car if the speed limit is 70? Why have ridiculous power if you're never pulling anything with it? See what I mean?

My parents never had really any problems with their Fords. My mom's 12 year old Taurus runs just fine. My dad's truck is almost 10 years old and it runs likes brand new, lol.

All my other friends never seem to have problem with their Fords either.

I'm sorry, did I do something to offend you? That was pretty love up, even by your standards.

They want you to look at the specs for other cars. The Impreza is one of the best AWD cars out there that I know of. A few of my co-workers drive Subarus and I have never heard anyone complain.

IMO the best cars are: Ford, Subaru, and Jeep.

The worst: Toyota and Chevy/GMC, again, IMO.
