I'm thinking about starting a BTTF themed ride, because I really like the movie and it'd be sick to pull it off time traveling in different scenes. I just first want opinions on what roller coaster type to use. I want it to look like a Delorean, but be able to look decent launching 88 mph in NoLimits.

So.. ideas?

Yes... make sure the track is Vekoma/Arrow. I think that since this is an 80s movie, you need to make sure the ride is also in that timeframe. A non-heartlined launched Arrow/Vekoma would fit this very, very well in my opinion.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

I'd suggest the Arrow/Vekoma coaster, mostly because the Arrow looper train looks similar to a Delorean, at least when compared to other coaster types available in the simulator.

Maybe it's what I was thinking too it's just that my main problem is how the layout will look like with the track type.

Non-heartlined + 88 MPH?

That would be a disaster epic enough to make trimming I305's drop sound like genius move [lol]

Honestly, it seems like Intamin and S&S are the only companies who build good 70 MPH + launches, and they're too recent.

So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

Schwarzkopf Classic Steel Looping, FTW . . .

Honestly though, X-Car has those restraints that come in from the side, which is somewhat similar to the Delorean's restraints . . . I mean doors.

^Well, with that logic, he shouldn't make it a roller coaster at all...because it will just make me think of a roller coaster...

Just because its an old movie doesnt mean you need an old track type. Use whichever suits you best. I'd think about doing it similar to HRRR personally.

i think the premier type would work best, make it a large indoor coaster with 4 rooms for the 4 time zones then make the coaster go through the times IN ORDER.

Talkin about Arrow,I gotta idea:Why not taking the scene with the railway of the third movie and make it the launch part. You could use wooden supports to make a trestle bridge and then modify the rails so it looks like a Vekoma Mine Rail ergo a Railway(Or you could use a woodie for that, but that would not fit that well). Then you can make the travel through the time so you arrive in 1985 and use a normal arrow track now...
I think that would fit...

I think you would be better off making a ride that didn't go 88mph. That is just too fast to enjoy a scene.

I have a feeling that it would be cool to start in a scene in a certain time period, launch to 88mph but only briefly as you "pass through time" and then hit some brakes to slow down when you enter the new scene which would be the different time period. It would work well like that I feel, as that's kind of how it works in the movie as the accelerating to 88mph is only to engage the time travel. The car doesn't then continue to travel at 88mph at the other end.

As for ride type, I think either the X-car or Premier launchers would work well. Probably X-car is what I would choose to be honest.

surprisingly i have a look into a coaster like this a while back but decided against it because of the scenery issue

i think you should start with a small drop out of the station into a small stall turn then hitting LIMs to 88MPH with an Xcar. sorta like the stall turn the delorian does at the end of the 1st movie and the start of the 2nd movie

you need to look at how the selorian moves and incoperate that into the track design
