Several injured when Six Flags ride stops mid-point

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) ??? Four people received medical attention for minor injuries after a ride at Six Flags St. Louis stopped mid-point Friday.

According to officials, just before 11:30 a.m., ambulances were dispatched to the park after the Boomerang stopped at a mid-point location. After the ride stopped, guests were able to safely exit the ride and the park???s first aid staff responded to treat those injured. The view from Skyzoom 4 showed a car off the tracks, but its not clear if that's what caused the accident.

Six Flags released the following statement after the incident occurred:

??? Boomerang did not complete its normal ride cycle causing it to stop at a mid-point location where all guests safely exited the ride. Our First Aid staff responded immediately and three guests were transported to a local medical facility as a precautionary measure. The safety of our guests is our top priority and the ride will be closed for a thorough inspection before re-opening.???

According to authorities, officials from the Eureka Police Department, EMS and the fire department were called to the park.

The park was closed to general admission at the time of the incident for the Six Flags Music Festival. During the festival, students from elementary, middle and high school choirs were invited to enjoy the park and perform in the Palace Theater in front of a panel of judges.

During Friday???s festival, the park was scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and attendees were given access to several of the park???s attractions, including The Joker, Inc., Batman the Ride, The Ninja, Boomerang, Superman Mr. Freeze and the Log Flume.

Park officials do not know why the ride malfunctioned.

Any bets someone forgot to tighten some bolts? They had to have just finished offseason work.

Yikes that isn't a usual malfunction!!

Imagine if something like this were to happen at Alton this year. The media would have a field day. They convinced many that galactica was stuck upside down a few days ago.

Well at least we know it's the same ride moved from SFOT because it still pulls the same old tricks in it's new location.

It use to be a running joke that Oscar (the nickname for the cable car) could never hold his load because it had a history of release trains prematurely.

Having to winch out units from the saddle is never any fun, at least they got lucky and it stopped at the base of lift 2.

Probably one of the smoother boomerang cycles to have occurred.
1-Millennium Force | 2-Intimidator 305 | 3-Fury 325
4-Skyrush | 5-Iron Rattler | 6-X2 | 7-Kingda Ka
8-Voyage | 9-Maverick | 10-Monster

Wow, that's not a normal stop. It looks like something happened with the wheel assembly on car four. Fortunately nobody got seriously injured in this incident. Assuming that's the original train from 1989, perhaps it's time to replace it with a modern Vekoma train.

^ OMGosh... glad to know that car 3 and 4 didn't actually tilt to the right side. The fear of getting too close to a catwalk after derailing!

I wonder if it had the "Arrow axle break" those trains like to have.
