^ they also have had years of experience with other companies, and they just weren't fresh out of college and say, "HEY! I wanna make my own company!" Then all of a sudden, BAM they made thier first roller coaster 3 years after they first formed then thier 2nd a year after the success of thier first.

You also have to remember that the market for roller coasters is contantly rising and falling, and when it falls, it could mean the end of you. For how long do you think parks are going to keep packing coasters into thier park year after year after year? YEs, there are some parks who have the room and money and they don't have to consider that, but generally most parks fall under the catagory of where they don't either have the space or the money to put out a coaster regularily, and as parks fill up, your going to have to hope that they can find ways to put in another roller coaster, or you need to expand your products from just coasters to like flat rides, family rides, or other things of that nature. Its not just engineering that you are doing, but you are also running a buisness, and part of running a buisness is evolving with what the current intrests of your customers are.

is that the same as rain?

No it's way more complicated than that. Underground water tables, probably some advanced water erosion crap, stuff like that.

I never said they were fresh out of college, I said fellow designers.

^ well, I was mostly just saying that you really need to gain some experience by working for other companies before you can start your own independent company and expect it to be successful. Like try being an engineer at SFI, or something like that.[:)]

Well, hopefully, I will work for another company for at least 10 years before starting anything of my own.

Whoever starting a new company what do you think you would name it. Other then coaster designing I want to also start a new coaster company too if I can ivest enough money. Right now the furthest I'm going is coaster designing because it doesn't exactly require lots of investing and w/e. Well I could start a company I would base it on launch coasters. I would call the company SuperLaunchers Corp.

True but as time advances more and more coasters will be removed to make room for better, safer, and more thrilling ones so really it won't be a problem for space. Surely I wouldn't keep a crappy 50 year old ride that won't thrill my gusts. The point of a park manager is to thrill the guests and people who will want more daring rides.

For me, like almost everybody else here, I too want to be somehow involved in the amusement park business. However, I think I would be happy with any job deeply involving math; I just can't get enough of that subject.
