CoasterCrazy No Limits Tournament 2008 - Round 2 - Twistaholic

Welcome the the 2nd round of the NLT, this round you will be building a wooden twister, either GCI of GG, on a completely random terrained template. The aim of the round is to keep it realistic, try to get a track that could be build by actual company?????????s.

This round will eliminate 11 contestants, leaving 16 to be match-up against each other, to leave 8 after round 3 and after round 4 there will be 4 participants in the finale.

The template is available in the exchange:
http://coastercrazy.com/track_exchange/ ... ?tid=13593

Rules:
(DQ when broken)

Minimum length is 800m / 2625 ft.

Train type: Millennium Flyers or 4-Seat PTC?????????s.

You must have exactly 2 trains with each having exactly 24 seats.

Track, supports and footers must be inside the outer red lines.

In the blue areas, track and supports must be under 6 meters/20 feet, however, lift hill-track and lift hill-supports are allowed to go above it.

The station-track should be entirely within the X-marked box

Track must be single and full circuit, so no dueling/racings or shuttles.

Only 1 lift hill allowed, no launches, no transport sections, no friction tires.

No double stations (if you would like a transfer/storage building, change the load time of one of the stations to 1 second).

Your speed can go above 30kph/19mph only once. This basically means that the speed of the train should be above 30kph/19mph from drop to final brakes, however, if your start or ending is slow, you can go below the speed limit earlier, just don't go over it again.
Speed will be measuring from the 6th row, right-hand seat.

Minimum height is 30 meters/98 feet. This means the track should be completely above the lines at least 1 time.

Guidelines:
(points off when broken)

Not many guidelines this round. Just make sure to keep G?????????s realistic. GCI?????????s tend to have a lot of small floaters in their coasters while GG?????????s have long airtime. Keep in mind that the supportgenerator might mess up some supports, correct them or you will lose technical points.

Sending In:
Track must be uploaded to the CoasterCrazy.com exchange at the latest at 23:59 PM Feb-29st. Make sure you include the [NLTR2] tag in your track name. Remember that if you do not send in a track or your track get's DQ'd you will be banned for two weeks.

Participants

White = no track received
Green = track received
Red = DQ

Another good template, dude... I love the speed rule! I've got about a dozen ideas, so I'd better get to sketching them out.

Hmm, I like the rules, can't download the template yet. But can't you have friction wheels in the station too?

so when you say "no launches", does that mean...
jk

If someone finds a question to ask about this template, it'll be a miracle. I like just random terrain and boxes - "just build a coaster" - contests.

i do have a question, Is there a story behind the "blue area" rule?

it shouldnt matter where you measure speed. All seats on the train move at the same speed at all times

Not really, i was going to make up a story that the local fish don't like tall structures obstructing their view...

it's just for the record, before some emo comes in asking from which seat the speed will be measured

where does it say they aren't? [;)]

Yes, they are allowed, just make sure that if you make your coaster stand on 3ds instead of regular NoLimits supports, the rules of the supports apply on the 3ds also

so you're telling me that some of the train goes faster than other parts of the train therefore separating the train?

can we use a transport for the station IF its purely used to decelerate the train as it comes into the station. It will not be used to accelerate the train (acceleration= 0), and it will be set to 'hide transport device'.

i.e.
speed: 5 mph
acceleration: 0g
Deceleration: 0.75g

Ben / Alton_

Maybe u where thinking of the different G forces acting along the train, cuz whilst speed will be constant on every car, the G forces will be always different* due to directional changes

*unless its traveling along a completely straight track

-----------

well, yay? guess we have to work with what we're givven..

You need to change the max speed of the pre-brake to something more like 4mph/6kph.

As for the contest, I already got it all planned out. [;)]
