If I was a billionaire I'd built a haunt structure with the beams as a troll move.

If track is already on site perhaps this is for 2017 after all. It's difficult to say for sure since it would need the shortest construction time for an I-Box conversion so far in order to make opening day next year, but it's certainly possible.

Don't disappoint yourself, it's for 2018. They'll probably get like 1/4 of the track up during the 2017 season, do the electrical system, transfer area, rebuild portions of the queue/station, maybe move the train a bit, add low supports, etc. I'd expect a similar timeline to what TTD had.

Look at how fast Wildfire went up.

First track didn't go up on that until, what, less than 2 months before opening?

Kolmarden wasn't building a large hotel addition and redoing an entire waterpark at the same time they were building Wildfire, and Sandusky has a much more violent winter than the area around Stockholm.

That section of the park has a wild west theme right? I think the maroon/browninsh will go well with that.
What are these for?

It's like "Frontier" or something like that. Probably the only "oldish" area of the park that didn't/doesn't need a facelift. New management has been good about getting rid of relics from the 1970's lol.

Hopefully that RMC will get a neat wild west zone, too, just like Maverick! :)

With this new RMC, it looks like the Wild West would be even more wilder, amirite?

That's a joke right? What complaint could they have possibly given?

They should only be allowed to complain about the coaster being built too far away from them.

RMC is too much "in control" to be out of control Wild. Personally it would be awesome if CP somehow managed to get a deal with GG/M&V. <3

Personally I'd love to see a CCI by shoot the rapids, but of course that can't happen anymore. A GG woodie would be great though.

So do you guys think it's going to open in 2017 or 2018? Originally, I was thinking 2018, but now with some of the track and support beams on-site already, I'm leaning towards 2017. I don't see why you'd need to have track on site 19 months before opening.

Im betting 2017. Though im curious as to why they haven't made an announcement yet. Its possible they could be waiting for RMC to announce their projects at IAAPA next month.

I think this should answer your question well,(posted on TPR by AndrewRnR)

I've been following the park for over 20 years so I wanted to chime in on why I think its perfect normal for them not have made an announcement yet.

1) They have announced projects late before - both Wicked Twister & Dragster were announced after the season. WT= Late Nov, Dragster = Jan. Both were well under construction before park closed for the season.
2) The park said Dragster was suppose to be announced shortly after track arrived in August but the park got so much free PR and buzz out of the track arriving they decided to wait. Maverick was more than 1/2 complete by the time they announced it.
3) The park's GM said in August when asked about Mean Streak's replacement that they knew everyone was talking about it and they would wait it out
4) Hotel reservations for 2017 haven't opened up yet - hotels are a HUGE part of CP's business model. It would make a lot of sense to announce a new ride when you open up your hotel reservations. Generally they start taking reservations mid-Nov.

But most importantly the reason they likely aren't in any rush is because of threads like this. Everyone in the coaster community is talking about, the news media is picking up on it (article in Cleveland's big paper this week). Announcements are suppose to generate buzz - but there is already buzz.

They know what they are doing - they got their name in the news for the ride's closure, for the ride's closing day, now for the ride's construction. They'll announce when the buzz starts to die down.
All hail your great Arrow Dynamics overlords.

I'm leaning towards 2018. Since Mean Streak is such a large coaster, it'll probably take an entire season to give the Iron Horse treatment.
The Texas Giant closed on November 1, 2009 and didn't reopen with the RMC treatment until April 22, 2011. That's what I think is going to happen with Mean Streak.
