Yeah, I've never seen any proof that Cedar Point is announcing a family friendly attraction this year.
I hope they get a wingrider. It isn't talked about much but they definitely have a fun ride experience, and it would fit perfectly in that vacinity of CP.

Oh well, woodie or wingrider, I'll be pleased with anything new.

Right from screamscape:

(8/25/09) During a special ERT event at Maverick the other night a few new hints about the 2010 project were mentioned. People were told that it would be a ?????????family friendly attraction????????? and that the riders wouldn't get wet. Still????????? there is a new persistent rumor going around that the new ride is water related somehow.

Cedar Points twitter says all will be revealed tomorrow, Sep 3 at 9:10 am. They are hinting at a new type of Intamin flume ride!

They aren't called that anymore, but that might be the joke.

As mentioned before, Intamin, and though it's rumoured to be not, BollIger & MabIllard, and more possibly PremIer rides.

Uhh, Arrow went bankrupt and was purchased by S&S (who worked with arrow on X)

Uh, yeah, I'm not a f**kin moron, that's what I meant when I said 'They aren't called that anymore'. Did you read any further than just 'Arrow Dynamics'? Jesus Christ, man, who the hell doesn't know about S&S Arrow?

I agree, Cedar Point is supposed to be known for power and speed, and if they come out with a kiddy coaster or a flume right, their reputation goes down with it.

As does their 'most coasters' record, as Magic Mountain's getting a 17th coaster for 2010.

It has to be a coaster, Cedar Point couldn't lose their record.

^ They were eventually going to lose it, and eventually run out of room too

Yeah, I agree with being pissed over a flume, or any type of water ride at that. I'm sorry, but when I go to Cedar Point, I want to ride coasters. If I wanted to get wet, I'd go to Soak City. I think they should use all that great room for something that's not worthless. And I'm not for one kind of coaster, I wouldn't care about any other type of coaster: wood, steel. B and M, Intamin, A coaster is a coaster to me. I ride them all. But a freaking water ride, come on...

They said that for Maverick.

But before you know it, SFMM will pwn CP with the coaster count.

Are there actually an wooden coasters with splashdowns? Just wondering.

It doesn't sound very likely.

Are you guys f**king serious? If they don't get an eighteenth coaster, their reputation goes down? You'd be pissed? You go there to ride coasters, they HAVE coasters. Give them a break, other things are needed too.

Yea but when they have this much buildup to a ride...it has always been a coaster and I think if it isn't some people will wonder why they eliminated coaster manufactuers, leading us to believe it was a coaster if it's not. When they did Planet Snoopy and Skyhawk they said very early it was not a roller coaster.

Yes:

They're in RCT mainly because of this type of coaster. If you remember Loopy Landscapes, it had a recreation of Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

So is there a possibility that Intamin could use their newer wooden track they use now to have a water splash?

I wonder why nobody's thought of a floorless or standup woodie. Well, somebody probably did, but it was likely dismissed as too dangerous. I mean in general, not for Cedar's next coaster.

I don't think that Cedar Point will die if it doesn't add an eighteenth coaster, but I do think that it would sad for them to not be the roller coaster capital of the world anymore.

Hell, I don't even know why I care what Cedar Point's new coaster is. If I ever get to go there again, it will be many years from now.

Yea...I remember there was a topic here a while ago about a proposed inverted wooden coaster. I don't remember where it is...but this might have been the link we followed.

http://www.gordonrides.com/test_site/concepts.html

Something like that...obviously not for this coaster at CP...but if someone can do it...I think it will be seen at some point.

uhhhhhhhh yeah, I will be very disappointed and angry. But from what I've seen in the only two times I've went there, there are not much Mother Father son's/daughter's at Cedar Point anymore. Its all adrenaline addicted people there now, and a kiddy ride or water ride might push away some of the adrenaline addicted people.

By the way, this isn't an officail stat, its my own observation.
