hmmm... can anyone find a picture of the original shoot the rapids?

I thought one of the managers was leaving and was going to go out with a BANG? What about the GCI hint? Why did they hype more than Kings Dominion and Carowinds, when they are clearly getting the better rides?

This just doesn't add up.

I'm still wondering why you would let intamin Design and manufacture a water ride under 100 feet, I thought that was Mack's domain and they have proven to build good quality and thrilling water rides under 100 feet. I would be joyed to see a Mack Watercoaster such as journey to atlantis

that was the one coaster type they were missing. But now this is a complete faillure.

Actually, Im not a huge fan of CP.

I have at least 3 or 4 parks I put above CP. But really, they effed up big time IMO. So many water styles, so many things they could do. They chose a ride with 2 drops and virtually nothing as far as themeing except a waterfall. LAME.

Ill take Pilgrims Plunge with the freaky lift and much larger, even those the angle is weak, better drop. Plus that lift is just COOL!

You have got to be F***ing kidding. They hyped this thing for weeks, and now we find out it's a F***ing flume? What the F***? If you hype a ride for weeks, this ridiculous dragging it out, it had better be pretty ****ing good or they will PISS PEOPLE OFF!!!!!! I am honestly quite amazed the they had the nerve to hype such a sh*tty ride. And they're spending 10.5 million dollars on it. Come on! They could actually build a secret coaster with that much money.

Boo! Hiss! Cedar Point FAIL! [stoning]

Much needed addition for the park. I'm glad to see it.

Seriously. Does CP REALLY need a new giant fast coaster just to please the GP? They have 17 coasters, they don't need another.

No, like 20 people total are pissed. And then, surprise, you have a ton of families who will ride and enjoy it, as well as most of the park on any hot day.

By that thought, you are basically saying that they shoudn't add another coaster either. You realize that right?

I'd say there are thousands, if not tens of thousands of people who are pissed at it being a water ride.

My elders here at the I.U.R.C.N(International Underground of Roller Coaster Nerds) have told me to relax. Lightning WILL strike twice. This announcement was the first strike, the next will be on the Thursday Sept. 10. An 18th coaster awaits us there. At 9:39 am of course:)Whyte Lightning.

Something Brewin still? Yes.
First announcement was at 9:10. . .9/10/09

Anyone thought about the aquatrax from Intamin?

That why alot of people are probably upset about it being a flume...when they could have made an aquatrax and killed 2 birds with one stone.

And as far as adding rides...over the past ten years they have been adding coasters every 2 to 3 years...so unless they do announce another coaster for next year....it'll be at least four then...I don't think CP will lose the award...but you know?

I'm tellin you why would they send Whyte Lightning/2010 bottles out to tons of media groups? More importantly; dont you think it's strange that the announcement started at "9:10"? Why 9:10? Why not 11 am, or 9, or 10? September 10th is a thursday, which is always when an announcement is made. this may clear up the GCI statement they made before. Why give all of those coaster companies that WERE NOT it, and then mention, "GEE SEE EYE" Come On guys. This isnt that tough.

Because they actually said it wouldnt be a GCI after they make the GEE SEE EYE comment.

Because the bottle of Whyte Lightning was a spin off of White Lightning.

"White Lightning" is another name for moonshine, which plays a part in the ride's theme. Also, our friends at Carowinds were using "White Lightning" as a teaser to their new attraction. We thought we'd play along by using it, but tweaking "White" to be spelled, "Whyte" as a tribute to a member of our staff with the same last name. Just havin' a little fun.

Lightning references not only the fact it has 2 drops but also because Shoot the Rapids was the flume ride that preceded White Water Landing before.

Is this "underground" made of 15 year olds or what? You cant disect everything. Let me guess, you guys have figured out the exact end of the world too?

Actually, as most people that read that post about the underground except for you probably had enough sense to understand it was a made up group. and the world ends 12/12/12 everyone knows that. lol. You shouldnt take everything people say so seriously. You disect posts, right? and I make rediculous claims about roller coasters. deal with it.

Actually, you never know these days.
But I also just used your post to reiterate the Whyte Lightning issue since it was already brought up but NOT answered in this thread.

And I used quotes for your underground reference, thus signifying my scepticism of such a group.

Oh, and the world doesnt end on 12/12/12, because that date already passed by some 1996 years ago. ;)

No, no, no. Nobody is being a spoiled brat about it not being a coaster. We're pissed off because it didn't come close to deserving all the hype it recieved.
