I build a nice system a few years ago, then it was top notch! For now it's just some low end thing I guess. I don't remember what the specs are exactly so here goes.

AMD XP 3400+ 64 Bit
Asus 8NI or something like that.
2x Corsair 1GB ram
2x Maxtor internal hdd ( 380gb combined ) and one 750gb external hdd
XFX 7600 GT
19" LCD screen ( which was so cool then! )
Running XP sp3

It runs pretty good even if you look at it age.

Well I just made my last purchase so I thought I would post the computer I am building right now. [:D]

Asus 750i SLI mobo
Intel E8400 Core2Duo 3.0ghz
EVGA 9800gtx+
OCZ Platinum Edition RAM - 4gb (2x2gb sticks)
500gb Seagate Barracuda hard drive
Cooler Master Centurion 590 case, nice case for the price eh Jimmy?
Corsair 620hx modular power supply
Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speakers

I have the mother board, processor, dvd writer and hard drive installed in the case. Now I just have to wait patiently until my power supply, video card and copy of Vista shows up. :(

That's a nice system! Too bad you have to wait. I hate waiting for these kind of things.

I just use my computer for simple stuff like Internet and a few games, but it was terrible enough for me to actually go and reinstall XP. Too many things were wrong with it, die Vista!

Not personally but most people that say vista sucks, try to run it on pc?????????s that just can't run it. if you have at leats 1 GB ram a decent Cpu like Core 2 or the newer athlon/Phenom it shoudnt be a problem

Yeah it does suck. And I just realized that the fans I ordered are out of stock, so I hope they ship the rest of the stuff so that I don't have to wait for the fans.[V]

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4850 512mb 800 stream processors

Gigabyte X48-DS4 Motherboard

2x2gb Corsair RAM DDR2 800 4-4-4-12

2 x 320gb Seagate HDs + 1 old WD 250gb

Coolermaster Centurion 590 case + 5 120mm fans

Corsair 520w PSU

Acer AL2016WBbd Black 20" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor

Logitech G-5 Mouse

Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speakers

Zalman 9500 Heatsink

Some Samsung CD Drive

Soon I'll buy another 4850 and 4 more gigs of RAM yay.

What is everyone else running?

Skip more ram. 4 is honestly enough for now unless your heavily using virtualization or running server applications or making use of windows vistas Superfetch feature. Otherwise with XP its a waste cause it doesn't cache your most used programs like Vista does. Why is everyone so obsessed with OCing. It seems like people only do it to say that they're processor can handle it. Unless your using like Autodesk Inventor, Autocad its not gonna make a difference and even in those its not gonna make much. The Processor you have is already fast enough. Skip those upgrades and get a nice sound card and blu ray drive. They're not as expensive as they used to be.

Also the current builds of Vista actually run quite well on older hardware. I have an old P4 2ghz with 1 gb ram and 6200gt running it and it runs great with full aero. I also have it running on a Pentium III 1 ghz decently. From complaints I have heard about Vista i have heard is that they can't get there iTunes stuff over to the new computer but they don't realize that this is not Vista related but iTunes related.

I have built all of these myself over the years or have combined parts from two other computers i have found or have been donated. And I have payed for these all from my own pocket of my I earned.

3.16ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4gb ram
9800gtx+ 512mb

Blu ray
Vista Ultimate

Notebook:
2.2ghz turion X2
8600M gt 512mb
4gb ram
Blu Ray
Vista Home Premium
250gb HD

Older ones:
Pentium 4 3ghz

6600gt 512mb
80gb HD
Vista Ultimate

Pentium 4 2ghz

Sweet thanks dude.

And I'd get a blu ray drive but I have a PS3 and my monitor isn't HDCP. And I was planning on getting a sound card as well.

Sound cards are worth the investment especially if you spend any time gaming or care about audio quality overall. X-Fi ftw.

We seem to have similar opinions on computers. Pretty much built my roommate a system nearly identical to yours. Save for a TB HD, a single sapphire 4870 and a dual 22" monitor setup.

Compared to what you're running? Crap, I'm afraid.

It runs NL 1.7 and Flight Simulator X fairly well, and that's all I care about. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to watch something stupid and useless on "the youtube". [;)]

Nice computer.

Is that Rocketfish case the rebranded one that Best Buy or a similar retailer was carrying?

Also anyone looking for a soundcard, make sure to check this one out, although it is slightly more than most; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6829156005
