I knew it was Dutch all along. I just wanted to see how Dirk would react to it.

I can't wait to ride Baron 1898! But it feels kinda a really short coaster :/

Should be a genuinely fun ride. I wouldn't worry about that.

The height definityly has a factor in the lack of supports

I'm pretty sure that tower itself is plenty to support the top of the drop. I think it's brilliant cause all that is there is just track.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

So are they finally building one with a proper drop? Don't see any mounting for a hold brake/chain.

There is already a drop chain at the top. As well in the presentation, Efteling mentioned it's going to get a 3 second hold before dropping.

Looking at the photo it seems it doesn't go fully 90?????? though :(

^ I read somewhere, can't remember where, that these smaller dive machines are 87*. Its interesting to ponder though because you have to wonder why the 3 degree difference, it can't be that big of a deal to go just 3* steeper. But then on the other side of the argument, those 3* don't really effect the feeling of free fall all that much to matter.
What are these for?

^ The angle of the seats makes up the 3* :P Oblivion at AT is only 87*, but feels vertical because of the seat angle. I don't know why they don't make it 90 anyway, it would hardly affect the manufacturing process. Must be a reason behind it

Wouldn't that make it even shallower?

^ It does indeed haha. My bad. The seat angle certainly has an effect on how steep it feels though. Seems to exaggerate the angle even if your body isn't at all 90 degrees

The weird thing is that it's older brother which is roughly 10ft taller, does look like 90??????:

And I don't think that those 10ft would matter to make the drop a little less steep.

No it doesn't.

NONE of the B&M rides are true vertical drops.

They're not off by much but they're not 90 degrees. Mostly 87-89.

And no, you can't prove that from an off-axis photo with no true vertical reference.

Doesn't someone have the Chimelong dive coaster blueprints? I swear the large ones reach 90 briefly.

^^Looking at that picture it's definitely not 90 degrees. But who can notice 2-3 degrees? It doesn't make that much of a difference.
It's been a long time
