Looks fantastic! I am now inspired to try this contest all over again.

Wow, thanks! Glad to see my design inspired someone. [:)]

Haha, that looks almost exactly like what I have started so far. I might have to make a few modifications.

This was quite hard, I got the layout done and my biggest enemy is tunnel testing.

it has to be at least 105', so yes, it can be over

Tunnels go out farther than needed for a test
or
am i wrong about the definition for a tunnel test?

change the trackstyle to a steel one and use that tunnel

Will points be taken off if the lift hill is steeper than 30* degrees?

^ Well, it is not in the rules, so you can have it more than 30 degrees, or is it 30 degree banking?

I had mine at 40 degrees.

^having a banked lifthill isn't realistic

and if you want you can angle your lift hill 90 degrees, or a launch. but realism is a big factor in the rating

^ Maybe to increase thrill, I dunno.

You are right about realism and all that. I would think a good angle is from 40-45 degrees.

Usually woodies are 30 or lower. The template requires something steeper though to make it very easy.

Am I correct in assuming you are factoring wheel hits into the tech score?

Wooden coaster lifthill steepness =/= Millennium Force lift steepness. Realistic would be no more than 28 degrees (an estimate).

Yes, what I mean is the wheels poking through the floor of the train, due to changes in banking that are too fast. I assume you are taking off tech points for this? Image

If won't take points of on the situation in the picture
for other cases, it depens on how severe it is. I suppose trains could be adaped to negociate the banking, to a certain amount. If the wheel is sticking too much trough the floor, points will be taking off.

I'll enter! I've been looking for an excuse to make a woodie, also to redeem my poor design for the discontinued NL'07 tourney.

Should be a fun time fitting into this template [:D]
