This is a model that has taken FOREVER to make due to interference with work, etc. But I want to know what you think of it as I combined a few elements I've used in previous models.

First, I'll start with this image of the actual logo being used in the model, I've always wanted to try this and I experimented a but with Ascension's sign in the Dragon model....This time, it's part of the entrance walkway.

Image

Next is an overall view of the station/storage/queue houses.

Image

This image is a bit old but it shows the turnstile made for this one.

Image

Confusing view of a bunch of railings!

Image

Less confusing view:

Image

This is one of my most accurate stations ever made, the gates and rails line up with the trains (almost, I repeat, almost) perfectly.

Image

Unsure why, but I had a lot of trouble making the air gate work correctly.....I hate working with circles in Sketchup.

And I forgot to explain what I did in this model to correct what I really messed up with dragon's model....In the confusing rails picture, you can see my new structure for supporting the track. This is no where near real but it is better than before. I also added the bar on the side of the cars like you would see on a real inverted B&M. Numbers also touch up the look.

What I didn't post images of:

1) Dots on the floor in the station queue to group riders.

2) Loose Article Bins

3) Ride qualifier sign made in Illustrator.

Wow, that station looks so detailed! I should try practicing with Sketchup sometimes lol.

This will probably be my final update regarding this particular model, so let's get right into it!

1) This first image is a simple one showing how I shrunk the qualifier sign.

Image

2) I made the numbers easier to see (I ran into this issue after exporting to the SIM)

Image

3) Grouping Dots!

Image

4) Close up! I no longer use a plain color, I finally found a cement texture that can be recolored without creating wacky results.

Image

5) The final, and most important image update....I wasn't satisfied with Construction kits' rails.

I didn't see any reason to create a new topic for advertising this track so I thought I would share this.

You should definitely export this as several models. Otherwise, I'm worried the detail will overwhelm a lot of computers and make your coaster unrideable.

If you can run my other Coaster "Dragon", you can definitely run this. It does degrade the performance on my machine....but I'm running it on 16xQ CSAA Anti-Alias. Lowering my AA can still allow for smooth 60 FPS and 30 FPS recording. Compared the Dragon, this model is 10MB smaller....I achieved this by creating one style rails and copying it over and over. This means that since these objects are all identical, they're only rendered once and placed multiple times. You can see this easily in the chutes in the station....look at the rail between the gates, the rails that make up the chutes is the same exact object copied and placed over and over like a puzzle!

My reasoning for one large model is for easier placement and "building around" in sketchup. I import tracks into sketchup and build around them....I first started this with Taipan.

Oh, I absolutely understand that it's easier to make it one big object, but I'm only saying it's probably not the best idea. Do what you want, though. We'll see what happens!

how do you know how to space the lanes? I can never get that lined up.

By importing the track into sketchup and finding the midpoint. Draw a Box from the orgin and cut out from the midpoint. It's a simple guess-and-check really. It's very important not to draw directly from the track!
