Yeah, on B&M's they're necesary. Hyper supports are extremely easy. B&M supports are alot more complicated because you will need to know about the beams and stuff. If you use 1 flat beam and 1 slated, instead of both slanted, it's slightly easier. But the standing vertical beam doesn't look good.
I would think that maybe someone with some real good RCT2 experience would write an article, unless you really know what your talking about!
