I bought a Metallic Blue Polo 1.6L Classic yesterday (Yay for me [:)]) and still don't physically have the car yet. As the law states here in SA, if the vehicle is financed it has to be insured and what not. Now I know in Europe it's illegal to have a car uninsured so I wanted to find out from some of the members here what you?????????re currently giving out on just that. The reason is because I phoned for all sorts of quotes and wanted to know if the cheapest one I got is good enough?????????

Biggest quote I got was R2250.00 (200.91 Euro) with percentage based payment to be made if anything happens.[xx(]
Smallest was for R870.00 (77.69 Euro) with a solid R2500.00 (223.24 Euro) payment to be made whatever happens. (Plus a Netstar tracking device implemented within the vehicle)[;)]

Both Companies include road side assistance, mechanical failure cover (although the car is under warranty) and immediate medical assistance. Obviously I'm going for the cheaper one here but I want to know what you guys are paying to get a rough idea of what I'm looking at.

My details:

I'm 23 with no accident record or stolen vehicles behind my name.
Didn?????????t have insurance before.
Never been mugged Carjacked or Hijacked.
I don't have a garage but a car port with security guards in front of a gate at my complex.
I drive 62 km everyday to work and back making my office distance 31 km away.
I live in the generally better area of SA around the western suburbs of Johannesburg known as Roodepoort.[^]
I work in the crime hotspot of SA: Johannesburg Central Business District.[lol]
At work I park in a access controlled parking garage.

Please help?????????

I honestly wouldn't compare your rates to anyone on this website, unless they are from your country. There are too many factors that will make the cost different.

As for myself I live in Canada, I'm 24 and drive a 2005 Mazda 3. I have never been ticketed or been in an accident and I pay $190 a month.

Generally, if you're under the legal drinking limit, I believe the insurrance rates are higher. That's what it is here in the US.

(Disclaimer: I am not encouraging drinking and driving in any form)

I understand that the salary bracket per particular occupation differs in various country?????????s but so do the actual vehicle costs. I'm mostly trying to get a rough idea of the costs around the world and not only trying to get the cheapest payment costs here were I stay. The legal drinking limit here is 18 BTW plus you?????????re only allowed to drive at that age. Botswana has cheaper rates but I physically have to license the car there in that case and have to drive across the border every time I want to license it. Small price to pay for practically half the rates.

SFF, that's insanely high IMO.

You should see my friend's insurance rate. He is 17 with an 1987 Pontiac Firebird with the 5.7L V8 engine and no accidents.

Insurance companies LOVE 5.7L V8 engines....
