Hi CoasterCrazy!

I made a coaster, a rough draft. It's pumpy, not supported or themed, but the idea is here. I think it has potential so I'm asking everyone to make this idea a decent, or maybe a super-ride!

It's nearly 50m tall and it works without a chainlift, nor a launch... But how does it work?!

Find it by watching the video below!

Ain't that cool? [;)]

Let's take a closer look element by element.

The ride starts by this enormous yellow arm...
Image

Pressed back in the seat, we can only see the drop. And what a drop.
Image

Slowly, our body is pushed toward the ground blow us...
Image

It's too late...
Image

The drop is inevitable.
Image

The drop is over 90????????? and rotate from 80?????????. It looks like you're gonna smack the ground.
Image

The first inversion is a Banana Roll.
Image

Then comes the Overcurve.
Image

No break and appears the Crossed Cobra roll.
Image

Classic but efficient, an airtime hill.
Image

After the MCBR, comes a Stengel Dive. A hommage to the greatest coaster designer ever.
Image

The last two inversions are called Eagle Roll, it's a kind of batwing, but more intense as we have negatives, high positives then negatives again. Such a way to end a ride!
Image

Here's the wave-shaped layout...
Image

The motion of the arm.
Image

All these elements, from the Arm-lift to the Eagle Roll, and beside the airtime hill and the Stengel Dive, are my own creation. Maybe you've seen them somewhere else (I do), but I though of them on my own.

Very nice, but how do you plan on uploading it if the arm movement is just editing the video, or do you plan on it at all?

Really cool idea. The ride itself is a little odd, pumpy, not shaped very nicely, but some of the elements were cool. The lift idea is really nice.

^^^ Obiously the arm won't work ingame, so I'll upload one or two files, with th arm in both down and up positions. I will not use the AHG trick.

^^ Thanks.

^ Odd, it's meant to be odd, but I hoped in a good way. About the shaping, I'm looking for some guys who would be able to redoing it, using hand-building, FVD++ or N?????????.

Ok, here's a pic of the system that will get the train onto the arm:

Image

It's a hydraulic jack with a pusher car (not in the pic). Once the train is locked, the jack with get back to leave the moving section clear.

OOOOOOH that is actually really cool. That'd be so thrilling in real life. I still can't believe how awesome vertical lifts are, and this would be like a slightly tilted-awkward sky scraper-esque thang. Yeah I like it a lot. The layout is mrrrreeeeeehhhhh but fun, but it could've done with some more bang. But it's cool and I approve of the color scheme.

I may be alone on this but the AHG trick might be useful on this I personally have no experience in this so I don't know how it works but it might be better that 2 separate files
What are these for?

^^ Thanks!

^ I never get used to use AHG without messing up all my track, haha! That and the fact is, either the arm lift is down, or up. But not both. Hence the two files. ;)

Here's a quick offride :

Ok, time to make a point.

The layout :

We (baadrix, member of NLE) tried to make a FVD version of this, but honestly I doubt we can reproduce the layout accurately enough. It's too tricky and oddly shaped. So I'll need someone to reshape by handbuilding the original file. I put a download so everybody can give it a try :
http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/2/28/2341955/Gerstlauer%20ArmLift%20final.nltrack.

Do you think AHG could help here? Someone knows how use it properly?

The theme :

At the moment, I don't have an idea for a theming, so the colors are generics:

Image
Like it?

If that ride was build in real life, I'd have an idea : a kind of haunted junkyard. The vehicules would be smashed cars, and the arm-lift a crane controlled by a creepy creature. It would feature the awesome double station (http://i.imgur.com/eqJ1r.gif), a backward dark-ride part (with a backward drop and heartline roll!), and some other things NL can't handle. :D

To go along with the theme, I need a name. Suggestions? =)

The arm-lift :

It's the key of the track, I need to, hmm, have someone to redo it, in 3D. The main shape will not change, only the top I think. Either we keep more or less the same concept, or we curving the main arm like that:

Image
Quick drawing, to get the idea.

Ok, I think it's enough now for you to think, and help me with this if you want! ;)

I tried another colors, changed the ending as I reworked the arm:

And here's a "real" POV of the Arm-Lift. Enjoy!

The "AHG trick" is a glitch, when you put a closed circuit instead of an open track in the AHG.
The output is still open, but in continuous mode for NL. The result is the train jumps from the end section to the beginning one.

I used this trick in the Stargate Coaster (http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchange/detail/18888), and The Deepest Fall uses it too.

How did you do that video?

Hehe! [:p]

I created a small portion of track far from the main layout, then with the fly-by view I moved the camera to the beginning of the Arm-Lift. The train moves at 1 km/h, slowed down a 25%.

How did you do a fluid animation of the arm-lift? Cool!

He probably uses camera-controlled car passing through a banking turn that lifts the camera up and over.

Like what I did here.

Kaloha : Brave the Wave
Download : http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchange/detail/19887

Technical data:

Kaloha features a new one-of-a-kind thrilling feature: the Arm-Lift.
It's a piece of track, linked to a gigantic arm. That arm will slowly rotate and raises the riders. During the ascension, the train is tilting from back to forth, giving the riders a sensation of vertigo. Indeed, there's no track in front of them, only their lap-bar.
Once the train is at 90????????? forward, it matches up with the drop. The drop is mean to be quite invisible while up here. It starts at 90????????? but quickly bends at an angle over 90????????? and rotates to the left. That way, riders have only the ground for perspective.

But there's more!

Kaloha isn't your usual passive rollercoaster. Thanks to the Interactive Bracelet(1), it becomes an interactive experience.
The ride puts you in the shoes of a surfer, and tests your ability to brave the wave, by riding it hands up!
A camera is located in front of each two riders. It shoots the entire ride. Once the ride is over, the videos are sent to a computer which analyzes each frame, and with a position-recognition software, determines if the rider had his hands up or not.
A score from 0 to 100% is attributed to riders, whom can save it as well as their video, by checking a terminal.
Bonuses such as waving while hanging 90????????? can be found. But shhhhh.

(1) Each visitor disposes of a watch-like plastic band, with a RFID chip strapped inside, turning the whole theme park into a giant interactive experience. Each chip is linked to a profile, where the data can be seen online by the visitor, via an app or a webpage (password protected). A flash code is printed and acts as a short link.
The goal of this device is to give the opportunity for the visitor to be part of the action, and become a player. The bracelet interacts with terminals, located all around the park. Each time a bracelet is connected to a terminal, a trophy is added to the visitor's profile.
For instance, the visitor discovers a hidden fountain. A terminal is on its side; he checks and receives a trophy:
[ (+1) "I found the elves' magical fountain" ]
Terminals are also located at ride exits, allowing the visitor to share his experiences. There's more to it, as seen with Kaloha (saving and sharing score and video).

(Side note : The Interactive Bracelet reminds you of the Disney's MagicBand doesn't it? Yeah, but I've imagined it before knowing such a similar thing was in preparation! >:( ...)
