Put me as a potential.

I have no mode of transport anymore however. (I am unable to walk from Birmingham to Alton Towers)

Of course I knew, Dan, but you were taking too long with your new wench to do anything about it.
If you're bringing a car, let people know so that we can try to travel in herds- I mean... groups. So we can save money, and so that some people can physically get there.

Thanks guys!

It could very well be [lol]. Depends what day it us, though, because if she can, t'missus will certainly be there. She's always fun to take the piss out of.

I'll give jpe and Casper a shout when we've decided what the date is and all that ting.

Wait, is opening day up on the website? And are we sure that SW7 will be open on AT's opening day of next season? All important questions [lol]

Opening day is on the website is Saturday 16th March - SW7 is meant to open in March, which is fairly vauge. personally I'd prefer weekday, plus t'missus would come if it wasn't a weekend (hates the crowds :< )

I know that feel. I hate crowds. Which is why I also prefer weekdays at theme parks [lol]

well given that opening is 16th, and it releases ion that same month, I think it's faqir to assume it'll be the 16th.

it will in no way be open the 16th

the clock has gone off the SW7 site and the towers staff (excluding the hotel staff) have basically confirmed it.

its currently 8 weeks behind scedule

I heard it's built already and all the pictures are just being delayed which is what the "working with alton towers" really is. Believe who you like.

lol i will and this info comes through towers street.
dont know if you know the story behind towers street and towers times but the entire staff is now towers street and towers times is now run by one person.

anyway i read and discussed it in the forum there and i choose to believe the people i know on that site because there much more creditable sources than towers times staff and i know they also have much better comunication and relationships with Alton Towers itself.

Look at the whole site and the ride itself, its miles behind schedule. On there proposal plan (which i have seen) the test start date was the end of this month.

it may just be open in time for soft testing but its way of actually being finnished

Well that's frustrating.
so really, we have no idea? Gouldy's saying it will be early, towers street is saying 8 weeks delay and towerstimes doesn't see to think there's an issue at all.

Frankly, sounds a little early to be jumping to conclusions, I'll be putting the most reliable date up the the top. right now, two of the three sources we have say that it's going to be opening on the 16th, start of season. so that's what I'll put. find me at least two sources, Gaz.

I never said it would be early! what?! [lol]

Towers' own marketing statement:

?????????No specific opening date????????? for SW7 rollercoaster

Alton Towers is now advising guests that it has ?????????no specific opening date????????? for its new rollercoaster, currently dubbed SW7.

The ride?????????s opening was initially advertised as 16 March, but delays with construction recently led the park to remove a countdown timer and references to the date from its website.

Last week Alton Towers said that it was still working towards opening the ride for the start of the season.

However, today the park?????????s guest services manager June Berrisford said: ?????????At present we don't have a specific ride opening date, but we are working towards the early part of the season.?????????

The ride?????????s final name has not yet been released, although its trademark smiling face logo has begun to appear on advertising posters in several cities around the country.

Alton Towers continues to advise that updates with regards to the project will be posted on its website.

So it looks like we'll just have to keep an eye out for any updates closer to the time; which makes organising the meetup rather more awkward...

I'm fortunate enough that, as long as we're not busy, I can book it off the day before. So it's no problem for me, either, which is good. But others might not be so lucky! Could always just call in sick, though [lol]

Very cool. But I still prefer your anime drawings to his drawings of foreskin (and the inherent smegma associated with it)[lol]

That word never fails to bypass various censorship filters.

Any renderings of the trains yet? I'm curious if they're like Rip Ride Rockit but actually track well (I hate that spelling).
