You just installed RCT 1 and your so excited to play it because its SUCH a good game and its what got you into coastering to begin with and you'd like to get back into your roots. So you go to open up the game, then all of a sudden you get an error. Now your wondering why you can't play it on your newer operating systems. Well there is 1 answer for that, because your a NOOOB! [lol] But seriously, its because the game does not support Windows ME and above. But there is a great thing that XP can do (which I know some of you don't know about, and others do.) You can trick old games into running by making it think its an older operating system, but its really not. So once you have RCT 1 re-installed (or if its been sitting on your computer) go find the .exe file to start the game. Once there right click it then scroll your mouse down to properties. Once that opens up, you should see three tabs. (General, Shorcut, Compatibility) Click on Compatibility, and under compatibility mode click "Run this progrom for compatibility mode for" and then choose a tab, for this game you'll probably want to choose 98/ME, and it'll work fine. But for way older games you can choose 95. Once you've done this, click on the start up file for RCT 1 again, and it should work for you. I hope this solves the mystery to any once who ever wanted to play the original series again, and for any one who wanted to play thier other old games.

I saw a list of games a little while back, they were all games in which Windows XP rendered errors in them. Most of them were XP not liking how the game does multiplayer lan and interent games.

I've also run RCT 1 on XP with no problems. And hey, that is what really did get me into coastering.

RCT 1 works fine with just RCT 1 and corkscrew follies, but it was when we installed Loopy landscapes that the troubles began, so you know, I fixed it. [:D]

My rct1 won't work at all, at least with the EP's, whether it's on my old comp (in which it worked fine before) or my current comp. Anyways, you can go to the RCT.exe, right click it to properties, th the compatability tab, and set it to run in compatability mode of another OS.

RCT1 that was a fun game... (having flashback)

Anywho, you might even want to change it to windows 98, because thats all it works on on my computer.
