^ya might want to make sure to press spell check in word when you send them documents...its finish, not finnish, developement, not devlopment, majour can also be spelled major if i am not mistaken, amusement, not amusment, themselves, not themselfs, will, not wll, believe, not belive, and i cant even tell what that last sentence is....point is, use spell check before you send your employeer/future boss a resume.

I'd like to be one of the engineers who supervises the construction of the coasters. That isn't to unbeilivable, all you have to do is work for the contractor contacted to help build the ride.

and how often does the same park build a coaster, look at SFMM, the park with the most coasters, the difference between Scream and Tatsu is three years...

How often does a park build a flat ride? How often do they build a new food stall, or a bathroom?

Hmm after being fascinated by amusement rides in general from a young age, coasters inspired me to do mechanical engineering for my degree, but its such a small industry to get into that I can't see it happening in reality. O well.

I love math/algebra and science. I heard those are part of the major parts in coaster designing. Like for example in algebra there are some parts where you have to find the slope. I think the formula is y2-y1 divided by x2-x1 which I do all the time in school. In the science part it probably has to do with everything. Like gravity, speed, and w/e. At the moment we are learning about velocity and speed and length so that's going to be a big part in my carrer which I think I will persue.

thought this forum was about talking to other people about whatever comes to mind, and is interesting. Not about order and rules.

Linear equations? I did that like years ago. If it wasn't for horrible math programs in RI, I'd be 2 years ahead in math. I would say thats a pretty good start for someone pursuing a coaster designing career. Now I'm like average because of this state, but what can I do. Anyways, sorry I brought up the crapiness of RI math, but It really could effect me when going after something mathmatically advanced such as coaster designing.

Right now im deciding in between 3 colleges, and 3 different majors, one of which being a 'Theme Park Engineer'. I was shocked to see that Cal State Long Beach offered that as a major. Other choices are Mechanical Engineer and go to SDSU, or Environmental Engineer at Calpoly San Luis Obisbo. At this point i have no clue what to choose, some more reasonable major with more options for the future, or the Theme Park Engineer with a job that seems out of reach.

Well, I would never want to be a roller coaster designer, I used to but then I realized one day that building a roller coaster to some one's specification isn't what I want to do in life, I want to freaking tell the designer what I want at my park, so one of my dreams is to hopefully make enough money to start my own theme park, although the chance of the dream ever becoming a reality is slim to none.

What I really would like to do is get into film making. That too is also extremely hard to get into, and I've noticed most people who never make it end up being teachers, so I also have back up plans. But I'm hoping while I'm schooling I'll make a movie which just WOWs people and gets me a contract to a large studio which would give me stability in my job for at least long enough to make a name for myself. But if all else fails I guess I'll go into game design, or something to put bread on the table and then some, I'll have to research it more. Who knows, maybe I'll become a mechanic at like Disneyland or something, I heard they get paychecks up to $100,000 a year, which is not bad at all.[:)]

I'm looking at geology. Roller coaster design is a tad too hard to get into. Right now I'd say it's basically impossible.

My father is a geologist, although he specializes in Hydrogeology. Apparantly its a very good field to go into because the job market for them is only going up uP UP!

I have wanted to design coasters for a living since I was 8.

But now that I have gone into college, done much more research, and realized what the chances are and how much it will take, and adding in the disastrous grades I got last year, I've pretty much decided that it would be more likely for me to win the lotto than make it.

I'm still in engineering, trying to get into a field that involves creative process such as design, but I have broadened my horizons to include buildings, bridges, and other structures rather than just roller coasters. Also, I have gained many more intrests such as creative writing and meteorology. I am also writing a fantasy novel, which I hope will go public within the next 7-8 years.

Unrelated, I might try being a professional poker player if I can get good enough. (I'm not counting on it, though. Even at the micro-limit tables that I used to play at before life busted me, my success was very limited as well as my patience.)

My real dream, however, is to own an amusement park. All of the coasters in my Adrenaline Land project are baseds off of this dream... to build a park that takes care of its guests like a family-owned park, but has the insane thrills of a large corporate park. So, if I either my novel or my poker play leads me to 100 million dollars, you can expect to see "Hydro Thunder", "Lava Blast", and a toned down version of "The Rockler" built for real.

Well there is the whole oil situation going on. I heard with the field if you work for an oil company or something you'd get paid out the wahzoo, but if the oil drys up you're fired.

What I'd REALLY like to do is be one of those people that walks around by the volcanoes in Hawaii and collects lava samples and poop. I'd be good for it since I don't weigh much. The only problem with that job is that it is rather dangerous because you're walking around ontop of tunnels with lava and if the roof collapses chances are Coasterkidmwm gets fried and dies.

Your thinking to small. You want to be majority share holder, but you also want to have other people invest money into your park so you can make one for like 1 billion dollars, then you have to include inflation. Then you'd have a park with atmosphere like IOA and the thrills of CP, and the family friendlyness of HW. Wow, talk about an award winning park right there.[;)]

I know I sound like a noob saying this, but I too dream to be a coaster designer, but of course, just being an independent designer is like, bleh, I would start my own company with some fellow designers, like Gravity Group. They've only build what, 2 coasters? Anyways, thats just a slice of my life.
