No damage here in central Alabama! The storm took a westward angle and while we may see some rain, we are not gonna have anything. Glad to see this time New Orleans citizens and leadership listened to the forecasters when they said "... don't be stupid and not listen to us like you did last time ... get the $#%W@% out of town!!"

TS Hannah on the other hand could get interesting should it come across Florida instead of following the projected path to turn North.

The Atlantic Basin sure is active about now. With Hurricane Gustav (Cat. 2) and Hurricane Hanna (Cat 1) churning over the ocean and land. But dont forget about T.D. 9 which just formed today.

Gustav made a jog the the west which put NOLA right in its worst area. However, Gustav never became the Cat 4 that it was forecasted to after hitting Cuba.

Hanna is probably going to hit along the SC coastline. Might bring me some rain by weeks end.

T.D. 9 is moving west/northwest but is far from land. it the waiting game for that.

As for SFNO, didnt that close after Katrina. Pretty sure SF sold the land after getting the rides they could save out of their. IMO SFNO is done.

I never understood why they even tried to rebuild the place after Katrina.

You don't build towns on a delta. Period. It's done, it's sinking, it's not going to be worth having around in 50 years anyways.

SF still owns the land, and I heard that someone was interested in buying the land and reopening 2009. Not sure though. SF is still in "process of settling claims with its insurers"

Its gotta be done though. They took Batman out, and Shapiro reported somewhere that a park would be getting the drop tower.

Gustav's intensification was damned scary. First it went from a tropical depression to a 90 mph hurricane in less than 24 hours, then once it had crossed Jamacia, it shot up from a 65 mph tropical storm to a 145 mph category 4 hurricane in only 24 hours. New Orleans is really lucky that it got caught up in dry air while it was over the gulf. This thing could have been disastrous, and the rapid intensification could be a very ominous sign, as it is a trend becoming more and more common amongst Atlantic hurricanes. I fear for what is to come from Hanna, Ike, and soon-to-be Josephine. The season's not even half over yet, and it's looking to be a wild finish.

^ Yeah, Hannah and Ike should be interesting for us Floridians. I will definitely will keep an eye on both, and hopefully we don't get anything TOO bad. *Hopes for the best*
