Yeah but they are also mostly TN panels meaning less color gamut and terrible viewing angles. But I am typing from one, and I like it personally.

looking over build....

Processor: Intel Core i7 940 2.93GHz - lucky bastard. that intel7 is expensive as hell but awesome. you'll love this.
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage II Extreme - ASUS is quality on motherboard.
System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz - get 8.
Power Supply: 1000W Corsair HX - why do you need this much? Did you check your power calculator? 800-900 Watts is fine, and all your things are excessively powerfull.
Hard Drive Set 1: 1TB Western Digital (7200 RPM) (16MB Cache) - you should get one 500 GB as backup and one 250 GB with 10000 or 15000 RPM.
Hard Drive Set 2: 1TB Western Digital (7200 RPM) (16MB Cache)
Optical Drive 1: DVD?????????R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) - waste to have two, really.
Optical Drive 2: DVD?????????R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x)
Internet Access: Linksys Wireless-N 300Mbps
Video Card 1: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260+ 896MB - Get Radeon 4870 1G, that is enough, hell get 2 if you really wanted but that would be overly excessive.
Video Card 2: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260+ 896MB
Operating System: Vista Home Premium 64-Bit - nice, get student additions if possible (cuz way cheaper through a school, i got vista OS for 10 bucks at college, and office for 8).
Keyboard: Razer Lycosa
Mouse: Razer Lachesis
Monitor: 27' Sharp HDTV - I would get a 24-25" Gateway. Cheaper and sleeker finish.

Those are just a couple of complaints. But overall pretty good build, just wouldn't recommend some of what you got considering what else is out there that is available. I mean you're getting intel7, so you might as well imo go all out on everything else, and on somethings you don't go enough, and go too little on others.

Yeah nothing wrong with TN for regular use. I used one until about 2 weeks ago. However, S-PVA which the Dell has is much better in everything except response, although it seems white to grey transitions are quicker, the dark grey to black are a little longer. Its not too noticeable in Nolimits so not a big deal. The contrast difference is very large IMO on the S-PVA compared to the TN which makes dark scenes a lot nicer. For the amount of money you spent on the desktop I would have liked to see more though put into the monitor.

That's pretty dude! Much neater than mine, but I have the graphics cards in the loop too. Need to get me some red fans too.

Yeah once I got a nasty cut on my hand I gave up cable management haha.

What case do you have?

[lol] Come on, you can organize the cables better than that in that case...even if the orginal holes are way too small.

I just installed my new heatsink and way better fans last night. The thing runs so much cooler and is much more quiet now. [:D] Although, do to the size of the heatsink, I did have to remove one fan from the side of the case.

Also Jimmy, did you ever have fans on the side of your case and notice how much noise it makes?

Hey nice system. You really should match it up with a real monitor though. I am typing from this is its absolutely gorgeous.

Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP 24-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor

Or you could spend LESS money on a BETTER monitor:
Higher Contrast Ratio: Acer B223W Bdmr 22-Inch Widescreen Monitor

Higher Brightness, Larger Screen: Acer B243W bdr 24.4-Inch LCD Monitor

Acer monitors tend to get a bad rep because they sell their cheaper computers at walmart, but yet they're rated highly in comparison to other monitors in magz like PCworld.

This will make the difference obvious.
Acer 22inch

Dell Ultrasharp 24 inch

that's because it is acer.

No, its actually because its a Twisted Nematic lcd panel rather than S-PVA. Even most Samsung monitors are twisted Nematic even though Samsung makes S-PVA panels for itself, those who use its panels and Sony TV's (Bravia). S-PVA montitors cost more and there are even Acer's that use forms of PVA which is similar to S-PVA.

Yeah it was horrible, that was one of the reasons I got watercooling.

^Thank god for fan controllers. [flush]

I bought an Acer 22" monitor in September and really like it. The colours are off from certain viewing angles, but given that it is a monitor and not a tv, it is not often that it is viewed from any of those angles.

It has great colour, it was cheap ($180), has minimal ghosting while playing games etc. Definatly worth the price paid.

A few suggestions in there, possibly taking one. I've considered saving up now to get a new monitor. There is some pros and cons to that though. Sure I could get a monitor that has a higher contrast ratio or even higher resolutions. In doing that though, I would sacrifice screen size. I'm assuming you do not know how immersive it is gaming on a 27' screen. Having it on my desk, right in front of me, when I play my mind literally wanders 'in to' the game. To be honest, the picture quality I currently have is very good in my opinion compared to actual monitors I've used in the past. I think my money could be better spent on a good set of speakers. I didn't realize that going from DVI to HDMI that I would lose the audio. So I've been gaming with head phones for now. It's really not to bad, but my ears hurt after an hour or so. Anyone got any reccommendations for a good 2.1 set of speakers? Usage would be games, music and movies.. Budget is $150 max but maybe higher if reasonable.

It's a nice setup indeed, but you're not too clever for going with SLI. Double the price for about a 20 / 30 percent performance increase.

I also would of gone for smaller hard drives and set them in RAID 0 or RAID 0 + 1, I can't imagine how long it's going to take you to backup a 1 TB drive, also think of the loss if you don't back it up on a regular basis.

The question is, does it run Crysis?

With the latest nVidia drivers, my 9800gtx+ can play Crysis with all settings on Enthusiast at 1680x1050. Of course, not including AA.

Thanks for all the suggestions on speakers and monitors. I'll be saving up the next few months and let you guys know what I end up getting.

As for Crysis, I can play at my monitors native resolution - all settings on 'very high', with no lag at all. I'm not sure what my FPS are, but I'd have to say never under 30.
