19121, don't take our advice the wrong way. We're not trying to tear you down, nor suggest that you should be any less passionate about your faith. Again, it's great that you're on fire for God. You know the Gospel, and by no means should you let your passion for the gospel die out. What you're missing is the finer points of the teachings of Paul, namely about how to apply your knowledge of the Gospel to real life.

First, take a look at what Paul said about the gospel itself when he wrote to the Corinthians. "For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God." [1 Corinthians 1:21-24]

To those who do not believe, the Gospel is foolishness. Which means that when you speak of things that are of God to non-believers, to them it is nothing but foolishness, and you appear as a fool yourself.

How, then, are we to win non-believers? Plain and simple, we cannot do it with Biblical wisdom. For what is wisdom and power to us is foolishness to them. Paul explains that we cannot do it with persuasive words of wisdom, and it was not meant to be that way.
"And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstrations of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God." [1 Corinthians 2:4] He goes on to show that wisdom is for those who are spiritually mature only.

This is what was meant when it was said in Matthew 7:6 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces."

The way that we are to show God to people is through demonstrations of power. Examples of how God transcends the logic and wisdom of this world. Here are some Biblical suggestions on ways that you can do that.

"For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more. To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I may win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as one under the Law although I am not under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law. To those who are without law, as one without law, so that I might win those who are without law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some." [1 Corinthians 9:19-21]

Because you are presenting yourself as a Christian with knowledge, the only ones you are reaching are other Christians with knowledge, which accomplishes nothing. If you want to save those in the world, you must get off your high horse and associate with those in the world. Be of the same mind toward others. Empathize. Show them how you yourself went through what they are going through, and how Jesus changed your life. Be an example. Through your own actions, show people WHY they should put their faith in God, instead of persecuting.

"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven." [Matthew 5:16]

those are a couple signs that you pretty much have a good chance of being one.
means your from the south, or somewhere close, and that gives you a good chance.

To come out and say you are more versed in a subject without really any knowledge of the people you speak of really speaks more of a fool than an intelligent, Christ following man.

See, I think I find more people who arent Christians to have FAR more knowledge of the Bible than a lot of actual Christians. Now theres a lot of theories you could present to explain that but I think the reality is a lot of people, if not a vast majority are raised with a basic knowledge. Then they grow up, see how supposed Christians act and talk and then go back to the Bible and double check. Once they see that the "said" Christians are nothing more than imposters, then their opinion has been formed.

Ive found more non-Christians to have memorized more of the Bible than actual Christians.

So be VERY careful what and how you say it. I really think you need to go back and read through Proverbs because your attitude, arrogance and at times lack of respect for those around you sickens me. The attitude you use to present your message definatly doesnt flow in line with the Jesus I read about every day...

Come to think of it Real (if I may tag onto your statement), I cannot remember Jesus ever once saying something along the lines of, "... I have come because I am the man, and because I have all the knowledge you should listen to me ..." No, He came in peace, to show the love and humility of His Father so that we may have an example to follow. There is an old saying that says, "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" 19121, you might want to invest a little time in learning the meaning behind that phrase; lest you continue to show your hind parts to us and further embarrass the Body of Christ with such outlandish claims as you displayed in post #1 of this thread.

Hi all. I was away on a structural geology/petrology field trip this weekend full of all kinds of joys like pulling a tick out of my neck with a pocketknife.

/me gets some fuel

Hey 19121. I've decided to convert to the church! Where is the best Church of Satan in Illinois?
"Careful man, there's a beverage here!"
