Does it matter? Do you hate Cedar Point now? Do they have 17 coasters or what, maybe you shouldn't get so into all the hype when there has been no evidence of a coaster all along? It's your fault you got so hyped, I didn't and I am not disappointed at all. Too high expectations IMO.

^^aka... being a spoiled brat. you guys have 17... You need something for families to enjoy.

I have 5, about to be 4, at my home park and I'm perfectly happy. Sure more would be great, but just be happy you have almost 4 times that current number.

CP's really only got 4 or 5 worth riding. The others just take up time and space.

I wasnt hyped and Im still disappointed. I wanted a reason to come back and visit once I move away. I hoped for something good and, since Im not a water ride kind of person, this has little to no interest for me. I go to waterparks instead. Not a huge fan of walking around in soaked clothes.

BTW, there wasnt evidence of a coaster or this. So thats an invalid argument.

i also agree with real when i go there i only really look forward to going on 4 or 5. IMO they have plenty of family activities/rides but whatever hopefully in the near future if CP is smart they will take down mean streak and put a monster of a ride there

Yes, most of Cedar Point's coasters are poop. Gemini, CKMR, and Disaster Transport are losers, as well as the kiddie rides. All the others at least have some qualities, and some with very many. They already have one flume ride, is it not enough? Just for that one flume, there are tons of little pale kids running around wet in bathing suits. Many a time has one of those kids run straight into me and gotten me soaked.

They have two giant kids areas, many live shows, pretty lights, a fire show, four kiddie coasters, a waterpark, and who knows what else that appeals to the little bastards. They're taken care of, as far as CP should be concerned.

Hey now. Gemini is one of the most FUN rides there. Got 1 of the best headchoppers Ive ever seen. Couple that with 2 trains running side by side, people slappin hands anywhere they are on the track = fun. Seriously, I think I have more real fun on that ride when both sides are interacting than any other ride. Not the biggest adrenaline rush, but still a load of fun.

People have to think...yes the GP wants family things...but in the grand scheme of things...are rides like Jr. Gemini, Woodstock, and Wildcat that rides you are known for that have people coming hundreds of miles to wait 3 to 4 hours for??? No.

I don't think people are going to make a special trip to CP just to ride this. I was gonna get Platinum Passes next year again and go back to CP if this was a coaster...but now I'm considering getting Six Flags passes and going to the 3 or 4 SF parks within a days drive of me and do some new stuff because there is no new coaster at CP. Yes family rides are important...but people don't go to CP and wait 4 hours to do CKMR as a family...they go to ride TTD, MF, Mav, Raptor, Magnum, etc.

^ Would you have bought a platinum pass if nothing would've been said at all about a new attraction?

Probably not because unless a new coaster is built we want to keep doing new parks. And we have been to KD, Dorney (obviously), KI, CP, GL even though it's gone. Next year we will prbably focus on Great Adventure, SF America, and SF New England...the latter 2 we have never been to and GADV we havn't been to since 2003 so there are at least 3 or 4 new rides there since last trip. When we last went it was a crappy day and alot of rides did not operate so coasters like Nitro and Medusa I actually was never on. So I was really hoping for a new coaster here because we had already started to plan when to go...and possibly a trip to Toronto or Carowinds...but now it is gonna be much easier (and closer travel) to get SF passes and do the Eastern Seaboard Trifecta.

I never really experienced the fun of Gemini (if there is any), because I have rather bad luck with racing or dueling coasters. Whenever I get to ride one, one of the sides is malfunctioning. Happened with Gemini three times, Gwazi twice. I've never been on a racing coaster that was actually racing.

Gemini had really rough bank-to-flat transitions, and the drops were killers. I think the really problem was Arrow's lap bar, which is just flat across and incredibly painful. That's the main problem on CCMR and Magnum as well. I think Magnum was the only one out of the three that I actually enjoyed somewhat.

Intamin's new OTSR's use a flat lap bar just like the old Arrow coasters. Seems like a bit of a regression, doesn't it?

Cedar Points latest video might help put this ride into a better perspective for some people. It makes me feel a little better about this situation. However, It confirms in my own mind that there is not a second trick up their sleeves.. Nothing else will come in 2010. At least that is the vibe I am picking up.

--edit--

Actually, check out around 2:33

"What about the future? I mean, we're excited about next year, but what about 11? 12?"

His voice squeaks up when he mentions 'future', as if he is hiding something.. As well, he raises his eyebrows very noticeably when he mentions 'next year'.

Maybe there is not something else coming this year, but I believe he definitely already knows the answer to the questions he is asking.

^I think that's another spoiled brain raking any evidence to get what he wants [;)] Maybe a new ride of 2011 and/or 2012 but we shouldn't get carried away.

Hey now. Gemini is one of the most FUN rides there

Thank you. I agree with most that just because people like griffonluv enjoy making "17 coasters" sound like the greatest thing around, there really aren't too many rides there actually worth riding, and in my eyes the only good ones were Raptor, Blue Streak, Gemini, Magnum, and perhaps CCMR (I love mine trains...), and additionally TTD, Maverick, and maybe WT which were not operating when I arrived.

They do have a large number of coasters but behind the flesh they don't lead other parks by all that much in general... All things set aside, this new water ride coming is growing on me, and I'm pretty excited. They do need it. And come on, everyone loves nice big drops into splash pools [:)]

It was said to be a fantastic ride with amazing airtime and forces. I went on in front and back, experiencing none such forces. The drop didn't even have negative G's, the flies were scratching my face at that speed, EVERYBODY had their hands in the air, and the only airtime I felt was on the small hill just before the last turn. It was a major let-down. I had more fun on Wildcat.

Falling 300 ft. is still fun in my opinion. If somebody told you that it had mad air, then you should have been disappointed. Otherwise, just enjoy the ride for what it is!

And yeah, there was no evidence for a coaster and I think that's a valid argument because everybody just started expecting one, and because of that was seriously let down. I'm not going to ride this every time I go to the park, but it's something else that helps them in another area.

Back to the MF thing...I can't see how is wasn't fun at all. It doesnt have mad air because its not all hills...it focuses on speed with air thrown in but not sharp air. I don't see how you couldn't enjoy it at all though.
