The height that the train is dropping from has way more to do with the top speed than the initial speed it's given though, the potential energy outweighs the initial kinetic energy. This means that slowing the train at the bottom of the drop does way more than slowing it at the top would.

It's still a compromise to those trims and a much easier, cheaper and fan-friendly solution. (I assume that it's not that hard to change the lift hill speed configuration [lol])

I honestly think whatever money they save on wheels they'll lose in people not even riding it. They turned I305 from a legendary coaster into a decent one.

I've never rode it but i can say it looked great. And now it looks even stupider than a jet coaster. Who sets some magnetic fins on a
lifthill-drop. Thats just... It just does not look good.

Thats how i think about it.

Wont matter for the general population, for them its the height and speed that matter, trimming >10mph wont matter much to them, it still advertised as 90+mph right? They wont be too fussed if they loose a few hundred coaster enthusiasts.

Every coaster has signs posted in front of the queues stating that you should not ride if you suffer from various medical conditions. Even on smaller coasters people black/gray out because they have weak stomachs, so to speak. What did people honestly expect when they plopped themselves into the seats of this beast? Taking 3-4G's isn't a lot, but when sustained they will cause some loss of consciousness. I remember one year I rode El Toro nine times in a row without getting off (unofficial "seat filler"). On the last run I was starting to gray out from not giving my blood a chance to go back to my head. It happens. Intimidator 305 was meant to be very intense both on the riders and the trains.

that's the problem, we ALWAYS fail to take into account joepublic and assume that it's people like us that actually give a poop, i told my dad this travesty and he was like oh. so... that really doesn't look like it changed it at all.
what matters is joepublic, unfortunately, and until we physically get an official source with hard evidence, hell, an interview quote would be nice, we can't just get angry when we don't know their true reasoning.
I'm still pissed though. good ride ruined. they better have a DAMN good reason...

A little trim can't effect wheel maintenance THAT much.

I'm sorry I just can't get over this. This ride is officially off my list.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

I honestly doubt they would put so many brakes on if they were just experimenting.

You really think in all honesty that they would just slap them on there and voila?

Fixed.

Anyway, it always sucks to see a coaster get trims, and this is by far no exception. Hopefully over the tweaking period (if there even is one) Kings Dominion will reduce the amount of trims used on the drop, while not having to alter the second set of trims located in the latter part of the ride.

lol, funny, except I didn't put him down for being a kid and say that I know everything because I "work with" parks and manufacturers. And I was joking...and I'm not a dick. lol.

Good one though.

According to Thrill Network, the trims on the air time hills have all but two been removed, and reports of a lot of strong negative Gs and a faster finale have come in.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

Huh. Maybe they actually are experimenting...trying to figure out where the best place for the trims are? I personally think it's better to have a REAL 300-foot drop as opposed to a real 50-foot-tall airtime hill at the end of the ride, but that's just me...

Let's just wait and see what they do. It seems to me they are working diligently to make a proper fix that will keep everyone happy. Just be glad they aren't doing it stupid ass backwards like some other parks we know.
