SFOG just posted this on Twitter:
ALERT-- We will say goodbye to a ride that's been at the park for 30+ years on Thurs for something coming in 2017. Any guesses? #SFOGThrills

I hope it's not Mindbender. I haven't been on it yet, but it would be a shame to lose another Schwarzkopf coaster.

Sounds an awful lot like the classic Six Flags pitch before they RMC one of their wooden coasters... Sooooooooo, goodbye Great American Scream Machine?

So, quick research shows these are all the rides technically on the chopping block:

Dahlonega Mine Train - 1967
Great American Scream Machine - 1973
Mind Bender - 1978
Hanson Cars - 1967
Log Jamboree - 1968
Dodge City Bumper Cars - 1973
Thunder River - 1982
Splashwater Falls - 1986
Oh, were you expecting something here?

It might be old enough to share parts. I bet it's fine.

Probably not, the layout is just a typical wooden out-and-back, don't think RMC could do a lot with it.

^ That "ACE" woodie should never get RMCed. The cutting-edge RMC elements are IMO not suitable for classic woodies.

I would probably consider Mind Bender the safest qualifying ride at SFOG. While I haven't visited the park myself, my brother (who lives in Georgia) says it still gets 60 minute waits on a somewhat regular basis. It would make very little sense to remove a ride that is still that popular.

I talked with a couple people yesterday who really know the park and the common speculation is that it is either Thunder River or Splashwater Falls that is going, with almost everyone agreeing that it will not be a coaster. As next year is a big anniversary year for the park, it is expected that they will be getting a very big roller coaster and it is necessary to begin work this early for it. What type of coaster? Well, Six Flags is reportedly building the prototype RMC T-Rex at one of their parks next year, and while I don't know that it will happen SFOG seems like a pretty good candidate for the ride.
Coaster Count: 535 (114 wood, 444 steel); Park Count: 110
Top 5 Wood: El Toro, Voyage, Thunderhead, Outlaw Run, Boulder Dash
Top 5 Steel: Superman the Ride, Fury 325, Millennium Force, X2, Intimidator 305

They could RMC the Georgia Cyclone. I've seen it done in NL 2 and have the ride in my library. Quite fun actually.

^ Um since it's imitating the original Cyclone layout, I don't think that they'll make it into a RMC style. RMC won't touch most "ACE" woodies, IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong.

 "Good question."
