I don't understand the purpose of the weird bowl things. It just seems stupid to manufacture so much extra slide pieces that aren't even used.

That's like finding a Waffle House with no white trash in it.

Yeah I don't quite get those either or what they do aside from "looking cool".

It's to feel a sense of danger I assume. Having one wall completely open and you be able to see over the edge would scare some gp

The bowls are for both decoration and to make the turns faster also I feel like this is the best announcement of 2017 right here

Make the turns faster? How so?

I think Turbo is on the money.

FlyingSAUCER water ride
Ride experience

Thrill-seekers on two-person tubes speed through dark tunnels and rocket into the wide-open expanse of the massive saucer features.

Moving at lightning speed, the tubes are banked high up on the wall, glued by centrifugal force. The steep angle of the saucers creates a ???drop-and-dive??? sensation as riders race along its edge. The feeling is like a World Cup giant slalom ski race ??? in perfect control!

Even with the tube approaching perpendicular, it sticks tight to the wall all the way through the saucer. And is perfectly positioned to slide into the next feature, or through the narrow exit, with ease.

Exclusive technology

A foundational design element of this ride is the ProSlide compound curve. It combines arcs with different radiuses for a faster, tighter ride and stronger g-forces. The precise roll and pitch of the saucer creates maximum speed and centrifugal force. This is a world???s first, one-of-a-kind ride with patent-pending technology.

That's hilarious - you could slice off the "saucer" part of the element and it would ride exactly the same. Marketing yo.

Near pin effect, if you think about it positively. :)

I don't see the point of these open areas if it isn't going to be used by the raft. :/
