Over 300+ unread posts not visible

Over the past couple of days, i've noticed on this forum, in my account section of the homepage, an alarming surge in unread posts. Over 300+ over the past 4 to 5 days.

Strangely though, when i go into the check the posts i haven't read, i can't see any of them.

This seems really dodgy to me. Why would there be such a surge in posts over past couple of days and yet i can't see any of them. Could this be a scam or some else? I have so many questions regarding this.
