Looks like SeaWorld Orlando is receiving a launch coaster for 2020

Image

The Orlando area park has a lot to look forward to: Infinity Falls, Sesame Land, and now a new launched coaster in 2020. This one will not be shuttle like its Busch Gardens counterpart but could be something more family style. Many details are listed as ???being determined??? but here???s the early break down:

Airtime and over-banked turns
Possible number of inversions not decided
About 55 mph
Location in park yet to be decided
This one really reads like they have several pitches and have yet to pick one out. Wondering from the stats listed above if it isn???t something similar to Copperhead Strike? Time will tell, and probably very quickly!

Certainly an interesting time for SeaWorld Orlando, as well as SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment as a whole.

I really hope this is true, the last thing SeaWorld Orlando needs is another huge thrilling coaster (Weird to say as an enthusiast...). This will be able to cater to the families more, and it looks great, this will also diversify their lineup.

Plans for the new 2020 coaster have been uncovered:

The leading rumour is that this will be a shuttle-launch coaster from Premier Rides.

It???s going to be intruging to see Premier Rides try their hand at one of these. Then, I???ll inevitably start comparing it to Intamin???s (Soaring with Dragon, BGW 2020), MACK???s (Star Trek, Capitol Bullet Train) and Gerstlauer???s (Fury, Gold Rush).

I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being just another Sky Rocket II clone.

Eh, I doubt it considering it lists overbanked turns. Also, Busch Gardens Tampa, which is the same company, just got Tigris. It would make sense for them to work with Premier again though, and these concept images seem to be accurate based on Manufacturer. Maybe some revisions to the layout, as it says in the tender, final details and number of inversions unspecified, but i'd bet money on Premier. The image shows what look like Premier trains and both parks could share parts if needed based on the proximity, not to mention, of course, package deals.

Rough idea of how the layout will go:

Video which goes into a little more detail:

So yeah, this looks a bit different compared to your normal Sky Rocket II.

I'm excited to see Premier's take on a switch track launch coaster a la Intamin's Soaring with Dragon. This looks like it'll be smaller scale than that coaster, but still much nicer than a typical Sky Rocket II.

If that post is correct, I think this ride will be very unique and fun, also a good lineup in contrast to the other rides, with a compact layout that merits further expansion.

THE STEEPEST BEYOND VERTICAL DROP IS JUST THE BEGINNING.

SEAWORLD'S FIRST LAUNCHED COASTER | OPENING SPRING 2020

Named after the icy Artic summits, Ice Breaker, will feature four airtime filled launches, both backwards and forwards, cultivating in a reverse launch into the steepest beyond vertical drop in Florida - a 93 feet tall spike with 100 degree angle. The thrills continue as riders fly over a near vertical tophat maneuver into a series of exciting twists, turns, and airtime hills. The brand-new coaster will be located across from Wild Arctic and opens this coming Spring.

This looks great, it's the perfect in between coaster. The height, speed, and rider height limit will definitely make this the step in between the other coasters, but the steepness and forces will definitely not let any thrill seeks down as well. It seems to be compact too, what a great move for the park.

Not to be that guy, but Good Lord if only this didn't have comfort collars. This would be so much better without them, and while I understand the idea behind them on the Sky Rocket II clones, there's no reason to have them on a coaster this small. Not to knock this coaster, it's looking fantastic, but yeesh. :(
