I dont know....that public flogging seems pretty sick to me. I'll let Dirk flog them

Mods/Admins are already banning members, and most seem to not mind the points.

We are? News to me! Yeah, i dont have anything constructive to say here

I thought that one of the mods/admins just recently banned a member, or at least you said so... It was 100dogs and then something.

why dont you do so that when you download a coaster it'll cost you an amount of points, which you can get back (with profit) if you rate a coaster correctly

I'm not an admin, but I think that idea blows. That means you would have to rate each track you download to get your points back.

You're not in the best pair of shoes to make a running for a banning Matt.

but you can do like, download a track costs 5p, and rate one will get you 25p, then you'll only lose 5 points per noted rated coaster, and when you post something in the forum (excluding offtopic) you'll break even (nor profit nor lose).
(btw 5 en 25 are just an example)

Same thing as I said last time, you still will lose points if you download a coaster and don't rate it, which would be really stupid.

why is that stupid, if it such a thing just to give a rate?
and if it are just 5p, its more motivational

No, its not hard to rate a track (if thats what your even saying). But it's forcing the member to rate the track or they'll lose points. And if they're forced to rate we'll probably end up seeing a lot more rates like yours hyyyper and that isn't such a good thing.

Not at all, there are other way to get the points back, like the forum, uploading tracks and steeling...

I am seriously against this idea. The thing that separates this site from Coastersims is that we have frendlier rules. Here, you can come and download as many coasters as you want without worrying about rating if you really don't want to. I think the best way to encourage more ratings would be to increase the amount of points you get for doing it. The thing that worries me the most about forcing people to rate is that they often give short, crappy ratings just so they can keep downloading. The number of underrates and overrates would increase exponentially. My suggestion is just to advertise your tracks in the hard hat area, which will generate interest in your track before you are even finished. Then, when you upload advertise and announce its arrival and the people that were excited about the construction will rush to download and rate your coaster. Granted, the best way to get downloads and rates is by having a coaster with a high rating that appears on the front page.

Here's an example of what advertising during construction can do.... I'll compare my "Ultimate Nightmare" track to my "Treetop Flyer" track. Now, I was advertising Ultimate Nightmare almost 3 months before I finished and uploaded it. Lots of people saw the initial screenshots, and were interested. I continued updating with more screenshots and hype about the ride. Finally, when I uploaded, the coaster got 140 downloads and 4 ratings within one day. Not bad. However, I recently uploaded a coaster called Treetop Flyer, which I didn't advertise at all until I posted the track. It earned 25 downloads and one rating the first day, and never recieved a second rating. So ypu see, who you are means nothing. You have to generate interest about your tracks, and people will rush to download and rate your coasters.

Yes, but wasnt this topic about new ideas?
well anyway, i think of something else,
maybe give people a line in there profile, how much of the downloaded tracks they rated, so people can show off wiht like:
"i rated half of my downloaded track and u got only 1/3!"

Dumb idea -- adds more scripting work to the staff, IMO.

I think any improvements will obviously cause the staff more scripting if they want to improve this community.
