The majority (I can give stats if you wish) of under 18 year olds in this country blame the gov and the president when anything changes. What does this have to do with voting? NOTHING. I never brought it up, nor even mentioned it.

The over 18 deal is where maturity comes in. Most mature adults dont just blame the Gov. at first glance. They will look to the real cause of the problem. I know what the problem is because my uncle works for British Pretrolium (BP Gas) and he called us this morning to warn us to fill up our cars because gas was going up.


It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out what is going on. No where in the last 3 years has gas EVER gone up 50 cents over night. 5 cents? Yes. 15 cents? yes. even 25 cents? Yes. But not half a dollar.


When you look at what happened the last 5 days, its easy to determine plus its been all over the news for those who dont watch TV or read the newspaper. We get 12 percent of our oil for gas from that region. 12 percent may not seem like alot but at the rate we use oil every day, its a huge number.

So, this is more of the same Ive been preaching. I stand by my original statement because it speaks of maturity and NOT politics. You certainly can voice your opinion, I cant stop you. You can do whatever you please but its no suprise that this topic got spun into a political assault on the government before looking at the facts. Its just more "fun" to lay blame on the government at that age.

Next time, dont assume. Maybe you should ask what I was meaning if you didnt understand before launching an assault on me that has absolutly nothing to do with what my post was about.


Plus the people in Europe should make everyone shut up since they still spend 5-6 bucks a gallon which is still more than we pay even with their smaller and more efficient cars.

YOu obviously don't listen to enough political programs. I constantly hear people blaming the government for everything, and not kids mind you. That fact is, a lot people feel the need to blame something. And you know it, as for voting, I was making a point, and i know that you didn't say that, I was referring to past topics. Not everyone is as mature as you, and I think that if I want to speak my mind, I'm going to do it, dammit, because thats why I live in America, and if my 9 year old brother has an opinion, even if its completely wrong, I'm willing to listen to what he has to say, why? I don't know, but I'll still listen assuming I can understand what he says!

No life lesson here. Its just annoying when what should be a topic about the recent gac prices hike turns into a political topic. I dont see what politics has to do about a hurricane thats shut down 12 percent of the nations crude oil that we depend on.

I went over all of this today in my Business class at college - hence why its so fresh in my mind.

So back on topic, yes, gas in Northwest Ohio is now over 3 a gallon since I got home. When I left for work a few stations were still at 2.65 or so and I filled up. But on my way home from work and from college it was well over 3. We should see this go back down soon because I hear they are planning to open up some reserves and then once the entire area is back up and running we should see prices plummet back to normal (Ha! I said normal)

This is such a sad, sad thread. Three pages of bitching about gas prices, politics, maturity, etc. Yet nobody even commenting on the huge loss we've suffered in the gulf. Just think about it for a second...at this moment, hundreds of thousands of people are without homes...hundreds or maybe thousands won't have to worry about being homeless because they are dead (some are still floating face down in the flooded streets of NOLA)...some are on buses right now, on their way to Houston, with their hopes high of returning to some sort of normal living conditions, probably unaware that they are on their way to their new 'home', the astrodome.

Yeah, I agree that the higher gas prices suck. I'm not looking forward to spending $80 to fill up my truck, but that's life. Read or watch the news, and it's not really a big surprise that this is happening. Just remember, as bad as the gas prices may be, it could be a lot worse. Ask the people in the gulf...they can tell you just how bad things could be.

It would be very weird pulling up into a MacDonalds drive through for a cheeseburger and some frying oil to fill up the tank.

Yes, it is very bad, my mom is a registered RN nurse, and spontaneously went out to out there to try and help everyone, at first I thought she was crazy, but then I realized how awesome that really is, from what I have heard, 10,000 plus people are in the dome right now, without any toilets, and every generator is down, so no electricity, and the graves from people are floating up, the sewage is completely busted so all the sewer is running out into the new river that has formed, and thousands are dead, and theres many people trying to steal stuff from the flooded stores, ect. and one person even killed a cop with a gun he found in a pawn shop, so yes everything going on in there is terrible, its a great economical breakdown that will possibly take 5 months to 2 years to recover from, so I hope that everyone will say a prayer for our fellow americans.

Pshhhhh ... the arguing and thumping of chests on this thread is staggering, and the most immature I have seen you kids to date. Have a family, have a job, have actual responsibilities where gas REALLY matters for performance of those responsibilities .... and THEN (and only then kids) come talk to me about what is going on here. solar energy is prolly the best kind of energy there is... its costly to install but al u need is the sun (doesnt even have to be warm out), then 10 years later when ur still using solar energy for ur car u can drive by the gas station when its 20$ a gallon and laugh

It's hard at this point to use solar energy because capturing it is inefficient. It costs lots of money for the panels and you don't get much energy from them.

Well, borrowing the energy thing and passing it to the topic on cars...

In the research paper I did I found out that the by product is WATER and that the moving parts required for a car using this would be less than half that of a normal car now. There was not a single disadvantage since when you use solid fuelcell Hydrogen (not combustable) its completely safe!

Sadly, its too many years down the road unless we get our butts in gear and start financing it.


Same for most all other alternative fuels.


As for what you said about Solar Energy, its a great resource but too much is needed to get any good energy.

I think if we could learn to harness the almost infinite power of Lightning, we would have hit the absolute jackpot in energy. Imagine a source of energy thats happening around the US at all times (the world for that matter) that has so much energy that we can only "guess" as to how much voltage and wattage there is? If we could learn how to somehow harness that energy we would instantly solve a huge energy crisis.

It is estimated that 44,000 thunderstorms happen everyday world-wide, producing 100 lightning flashes every second. That's 8.6 million strikes every single day.



I also read that its almost too powerful to harness because of how powerful it all is at once but you gotta think, if we ever could, I think youd have NO need for any nuclear or coal/oil power plants ever again.

Its not a matter of some one knowing more than another, its a matter of letting us voicing our opinion. It's like you guys don't even care what we have to say just because we aren't in your shoes. Or at least that's what comes across. And this happens time and time again about how you people basically state, "You don't know, you don't matter." Just think about that.

As for the people in the gulf, I haven't really seen much of what really happened until later this afternoon, and it is quite sad. As "O` riely" put it, the whole city of New Orleans does not exist, nothing is running at all, its just a mass waste land of water and people, and my prayers go out to them.
