^^well, you don't have to wonder anymore... I had some free time tonight so I'm getting a start on my first layout concept, which is going smoothly enough!

I will actually measure the height of the structure (from the footer to the track at the highest point).

The G-force of 3.8 is a little harsh.

Thunderhead goes at least 4 (I think)...

Thunderhead probably has 3 at max. In fact, most CCIs (and probably GCIs as well) max out between 2.5 and 3gs, but I'd say anything up to 3.4g is within perfectly realistic limits for a CCI styled coaster.

I think -1.2 is definately pushing it for these styles so I say count your blessings. I also agree with Real and IntaminFan that woodies including Thunderhead don't get as many positives as you'd think.

^ what about PTCs?

If your talking about coasters built by PTC, I'm sure they range quite a bit in forces depending on designer.

If your talking about the trains, I'm sure they could handle quite a bit of force... but the dangers would first come from the forces on the riders before the forces on the train became an issue.

Question, could we use 3 cars per train for a realistic S&S ride?

Is it too late to join? Sorry, I've been house-hunting.
My body isn't a temple. It's an amusement park.

I even feel as 3.8 is pushing it on a wooden coaster.

Wow I feel like a loser. Like a ton of people are already far on their layout and I haven't even started!
1-Millennium Force | 2-Intimidator 305 | 3-Fury 325
4-Skyrush | 5-Iron Rattler | 6-X2 | 7-Kingda Ka
8-Voyage | 9-Maverick | 10-Monster

I don't see what the issue is...measuring this way gives you up to a full 110 feet.

Some Q&A added to the front post along with minicooper.

^no, it's just that i nearly got my layout done, based on 110ft grid height.

Anyways, i'm starting over, the extra gives me a lot more speed to put to good use

I first thought about GG, but it turned out more S&S-ish, so yeah, I'd say so.

I finished at 2704 ft.

It is probably the most insane coaster I have EVER made.

It barely (I mean BARELY) fits within the g-force limits and everything.

Pics later

I started over. My last design would've required a lot of custom vertical bracing which I don't have time for.

Oh well, I like my new design. Much simpler yet filled with adrenaline.

I've been thinking about it and I've already got myself a pretty cool looking little layout on paper, so, time permitting, I should put in a pretty good track! [:D]

I'll think about it.
I won't say I'm signing up, but if I start to get something, I will at that point.

May we put 3ds in the areas intended for the pre-planned rides (to show there are rides there)?

Also, can there be support structures going over the areas for other rides as long as they leave enough room for a ride underneath?

Yes, you may do 3ds for those "planned" rides. Unfortunetly though, I'm gunna stick to the rule and say no building over the red rides...I don't want to make the contest too easy.
