My history knowledge is poop.

So Thatcher died, and would it be accurate to say that she was the UK version of the current Tea party austerity tards in the USA that can't get over the fact that austerity has been a catastrophic failure everywhere it has ever been tried in the history of the world? (example: Spain)

Trying to understand the whole partying thing going on after she died and I figure she was an austerity tard since lots of "privatize her funeral to the lowest bidding corporation" comments were floating around.

Thanks and sorry for being american/out of touch with world events.

To be fair to her; she was what the country needed at that time. The industry unions were becoming too big for their own boots and crippling industry from within. The unions succeeded in crippling their respective industries (mining, engineering etc.), though.

I'm probably little more informed on the subject than you are, having only been alive for the last 3 years of her reign; but from what I can gather - to me it seems like the country was heading towards total financial meltdown until she pointed it in another direction.

The changes she made were extreme, which is why she is hated by so many; as half of the country was affected adversely in the immediacy of those changes. But folks usually neglect how strong the country stood, financially, at the end of her reign.

Think of her as a Dark Knight [;)]

British Leyland was told to stop being on strike so much by her?

If i'm not mistaking she was responsible for gaining order during the summer of rave in 1989 by banning acid house party's. Is it all these old blokes celebrating? lol.
