Atari Announces Roller Coaster Tycoon 3D.

During a financial presentation yesterday, Atari announced that Chris Sawyer is working on a 3D version of Roller Coaster Tycoon to be realised late 2004. It is unknown whether or not it will follow in the the footsteps of the superb original or the direction of the third-party add-ons. However, Chris Sawyer is a rollercoaster enthusiast and was not a fan of the add-on packs that made the game less realistic. It is hoped with him developing, the game will be more like No Limits, i.e. more serious.

Hopefully this pulls thru! What are your thoughts?

Where are the sources, coasterforce is known to release bogus info sometimes. Anything about it on the official rct site?

I don't think that was official. It might have been, but notice 'released' is spelled wrong.

Anyway, if it is true (and I probably am just being picky) then that would be awesome!!!!

Yeah it would be. Wait a tic...why would Chris S. allow the add-on's to be relised if he didn't like them?
The first one was ok...but the second was just stupid.

Becuase he didn't have the full rights to the games. He coded/made models/ got sounds/ and tested pretty much all of the first game himself, BUT He had to use Atari to publish the game and do all the other stuff. So it was really copyrighted to Atari and they wanted to milk the money cow.

i pray that it's good. I hope you build the flat rides and shops and scenery the same way that you do now, but then "hit" a 3d button that turns it into a 3D world. Also, i pray that there's more way's to build your rides

This sounds pretty good... I hope they put in a feature that lets you ride on your park's coasters, that would be awesome.

im not gonna believe it yet. The only video game site i trust has no mention of this. Also, RCT site shows no mention of it.

I think if RCT went 3d it would be so stupid. RCT would never be the same game if it was 3d.
