The more I look at ring racer the more things seem just plain wrong. First off looking at the videos of the launches on youtube it doesn't appear that the trains are travelling anywhere NEAR 135MPH. It looks as though they may not even be topping 100Mph.

There was another thing that I noticed that looked impossible. The turn at the top is extremely tight yet it is only 132ft off the ground, so it is taken with extreme speed. Using some calculations I determined that a train launched at 135MPH would traverse the top of that curve at approximately 119MPH!

I don't see how anyone could survive a turn that sharp at that kind of speed, not to mention the transitions between banking.

Are my calculations correct, and if so what kind of G-forces are we looking at?

Umm, in case you didn't know, there are brakes right after the launch, so it slows to about 90ish (correct me if im wrong) before it gets into that curve. It also has yet to run at top speed due to technical issues, so any videos you have seen have not been at 135mph.
^the message is up there^

the train does launch to 135, then immediately hits brakes in order to take that turn. Its meant to simulate a real racing scenario, such as a car, accelerating down a straight, then having to slam the brakes to make a hairpin turn. The whole track was designed to simulate a real racing experience.

Ok good! It seems rather a rip off to use the power to get a coaster train up to 135 mph only to slow it down to 90 immediatly afterwards. Is there a point?

^that is dissapointing! I see the concept but still very dissapointing. What kinds of problems are they experiencing.

60 is too slow to carry it through. 70 would bring it to about 30 at the top, and 90 would make it reach 64.4mph.... which still seems a little fast.

I've had a chat with the people from S&S and all I'm going to tell to you guys that they had a tiny problem in the software. Which ended up in a major problem during testing.
It was a stupid human error. I've heard they want to deliver the coaster up before the new year. The opening of the ride will depend on the nurburgring itself. [:)]

This technical problem has became a bit "big" it was meant to be fixed by August, and opening around the same time. Oh well.
In a couple of years im gonna have a bit of a Germany Tour, gonna have Nurburgring on my list :)

The minimum velocity to make it through the curve with the proper coefficient of friction is 69mph.

Pff, like a 50ft high turn is a realistic racing experience?

If they really wanted to simulate racing, they should've put in something like test-track.

^ Where would you fit that into that space?

They have this little space between two grandstands, how would they fit anything other than what they've done in there?!

The magical demands of people who have never been there would make it work.

I'm not saying re-create the entire dome, just the racing part. Plenty of room for that at the nurburgring

not in that space though, and they had a brief that they had to stick to, and that was to create something in that space

It wasn't meant to distract from the racing experience.

what kinds of problems with the software, did someone forget to convert to metric?

The ride software doesn't have to be in metric, it's proprietary software, and can be in any language/measurement the designer may choose. Software problems can mean a lot of things, such as the pressure in the tanks not calibrating correctly and confusing the computer.

oh. Thats bad. And could take quite a while to fix. Not to mention the minor explosion about a month a go when a compressed air chamber under the launch track burst.
