So, NL1 is smoother than NL2? That's the same for most people. Have you played around with the settings in NL2?

Your graphics card is obviously going to be critical in viewing smooth action.

Try running GPU-Z, it will report what card you have and how powerful it is. Might enable you to get an idea of how powerful (or not) it is.

Get gpu-z from http://download.cnet.com/GPU-Z/3000-2094_4-10788513.html

Its very simple - nothing to instal - just run and see the information.

Hope that helps you determine what you've got and whether an upgrade may be advised.

If you post an image of the result as I have done for mine below - we will all be able to see what you've got - and if others do the same - we can all see how yours compares with ours.

When you run this you will see in the top right hand corner a camera symbol - click this to capture the window, then uploaded to free hosting, and copy and paste the url into a post on here - simples [^]

My card handles NL2 acceptably well - and its by no means top of its class!

Oscar, here is my Intel GPU response:

It's slightly better than what you have, and I was getting 40ish FPS on average. It would drop to 20ish sometime, and really heavy duty parks it hits 10-13ish area. You are probably on the edge of acceptable, but there is a demo available if you want to try before dropping the money. EDIT: Ninja'd on this with pretty much the exact same report and settings to get it smooth. Jump on in, Oscar, the water's fine.

I have a dual GPU laptop, and here is the NVIDIA GPU report for comparison for lyle.

This one usually runs 60+ FPS with dips into 40s and 50s and for extreme loads it will go into the low 20s. This is running default settings.

Yeah, lyle, you will probably need to upgrade to be happy with it. You can reduce everything to minimum and maybe get acceptable results, but you won't be happy running that way.

I can run NL2 on max settings with anti-aliasing, but it makes my 3GB GT640 whine a little.

Download the trial version and try it out. That will give you a good idea of how it will run.

It should be noted that your video card isn't the deciding factor in the performance. Your CPU will be doing a ton of work as well.

Don't do it. Save up and purchase a computer that has a proper sized motherboard with a free PCI Express x16 slot.

What model computer do you have?

Yeah, don't bother spending money on upgrading that. It won't be worth it.
