In case anyone forgot, Kings Dominion holds the record for "Most Roller Coasters that Drop or Launch into a curve."

Volcano - Launches into a 180 turn, then is sometimes accelerated again to clear the tower. Actual results may very. See electricians for details.
I305 - Drops into a curve, had to be re-profiled because of being dropped into a curve and math is hard for some engineers.
Hurler - Probably were they stole the idea for first drop into a 180 turn for I305.
Shockwave - Designed in such a manner that riders in the first two cars are given generous levels of airtime after the loop, which is briefly followed by being slammed down and right into a 360.
Grizzly - First drop is not even remotely straight.
Dominator - Element after the loop, drop into a corner. Surprise!
Anaconda - You see riders were a lot tougher when this ride was built. They didn't whine so much after getting strapped into a washing machine and thrown down a mountain.
Avalance - Down and around after the lift. Nuff said.
Backlot Stunt Coaster - Launches into a wonderful corkscrew of wasted metal.
Richochet - Down off the lift, into a corner.

When I was there last year, Shockwave had welding scars and looked a little worse for wear. It wasn't the most comfortable and today's guests won't put up with rough or uncomfortable thrills.

You shouldn't cry over it, just be thankful that you can still reproduce after riding it.

Uncomfortable thrills mean traditional ones, I think, which are like "Hey if you (can) deal with them, you will get satisfied with adventurous moments!"

:)

I think it's funny how everyone lost their minds when Carowinds announced that Thunder Road was closing, but when KD closed Shockwave, no one really cared. ;)

Because Thunder Road is a classic woodie. Wood needs to be saved :)

I guess they seriously hate Togo, mainly because of a Knott's "defunct" Windjammer's case. :(

This is a TOGO so even if we bought it, no one else would because it's so bad.

Every member on the site would have to donate several thousand dollars to 'pitch in' for a togo. And even so, ITS A TOGO.

Honestly I would rather we pitch in to buy that Schwarzkoph looping star.

As a slightly obese person, I found Shockwave amazing. Granted, it is a TOGO, and having ridden the rough and jerky King Cobra, the transitions of Shockwave were incredible. Has anyone else seen the blueprints yet? It looks like a Zamperla Disk'O coaster.
A big drop is a good drop.
