The Boss, designed by Custom Coasters International and constructed in 2000, features blazing pacing, punishing laterals, and surprising pops of air throughout it's 5051 foot long track. Evident especially in it's 150 foot double-down first drop, The Boss was designed to be one of the world's most intense coastering experiences!

This recreation, brought to you by DCs221 and Tyrant, will capture the awesome power of The Boss and present it to you in unprecedented, stunning detail.

I will be working on insanely accurate trackwork (done completely with Elementary and AHG) and some/most of The Boss' supports, while Tyrant is crafting some detailed 3ds and the SFStL terrain. Expect one of the most amazing, accurate, and realistic recreations ever. Updates will come as construction progresses.

The bowfu method? I guess it got something to do with red's formulas?[;)]

looks pretty cool, but I don't think a rec of a CCI can ever be as good as the real thing, but that goes with just about any woodie

WWS- I have like 2 or 3, but it's always best to have as many as possible, since one may show a specific feature better than another (especially with a roughish ride), so yes please, that would be great. If you want to e-mail it, my e-mail is DMCs220@comcast.net, or you can use whatever other method you have, doesn't matter to me. Thanks! Oh, and isn't "Haloween" spelled Halloween? Unless you're advertising for a certain Bungie/Microsoft game ofcourse lol. Just wondering ;)

Alton- I'll return to working on El Toro after redunzelizer releases his e-formulas...right now, myself and several others including Hansixx have come to the conclusion that it's most likely impossible to do a certain transition with currently available elementary formulas/wizards.

Jimmy Yoshi, Nosferatu- Yes.

Coolbeans- I personally haven't been on Boss (which is why it works out perfectly to be doing this with Tyrant, who was a ride op at Boss, and has tons of knowledge/pictures I can work with). When I said punishing I meant in a fun way, not painfully so. It was actually just an edit to use that word because I had already used intense, and didn't want to be repetitive lol.

SMer-Um, that's pretty logical...not sure I've experienced any airtime, wind, positives and laterals, speed, height, etc. when riding any NL coaster. Which is why... ***This ride WILL actually provide forces and wind and speed and fun!!! I'll have you smelling the southern yellow pine!***
Unless, ofcourse, I find that impossible, in which case I'll stick to just making one of the most accurate recreations ever. Not as exciting, but hey it's better than sitting at your desk riding a boring and unrealistic NL coaster.

Anyways lol thanks for all the feedback guys, any more is still very appreciated. I'll keep you all updated.

Dan,

Ahhhhh ... some realism. Excellent work man, just excellent. This is one I have hoped to see for a long time re-created proper. Looking forward to the finished product my friend.

You can attribute the realism in those screenies to Tyrant's excellent 3dsmax skills. He's busy with schoolwork at the moment, so I don't think we'll see too much progress on his side of the recreation anytime soon. My Mon-Wed suck because of calc2 and dynamics hw, but I usually work on it little toward the end of the week. So yea...

Lately I've corrected some height issues, and modified the second turnaround to be a little more accurate in placement and shaping. I've also improved the entry to the third turnaround, and it's looking pretty good. Next up is finishing the third turnaround which will be easy since I already have the sections made in Elementary, just have to fit them to the slightly modified turnaround entry and spacing. Just changing a few turning angles and slopes and that'll be done.

The rest of the track should be relatively easily. Just some bunny hops with turn a turn in the middle...they're easy to do, especially with CCI shaping. As I get closer to the end, I think I'll be most worried about track length. However, in the past I've almost always gotten very close to the actual track length on my first try, which meant I didn't have to modify too much to make the length perfect. Hopefully it works out that way again.

I had some time tonight to work on Boss, and I've made some progress. I fixed up the third turnaround to be even more accurate, and made a preliminary version of the subsequent bunny hill/turn, which looks good for a first draft. I'll probably throw up some pictures when I finalize that element.

That was pretty cool :] But I'm thinking that you should turn the shocks off...even if it makes it more "realistic"

The shocks in NL aren't nearly as significant as the roughness in real life, so I think it's better with them on. Tyrant made the video though...yell at him if you wish :P
