If you got winodows XP it should have come with a free video editing tool "Windows Movie Maker". Go in there and get the shots you want from wherever you got them.If its from a digital video cam then you will need a firewire port in you PC to connect it.Just read through the help file in the program & it will tell you how to do it all.

Well, it may be expensive but you can use Adobe Premere

I use Virtual Edit. Its only $40. Doesn't do much fancy stuff, but its easy to use and makes it much easier to accurately synch your edits with audio tracks than anything else in that price range, which is very important for making a good looking video.
Theres a free version, but it displays thier web address across the middle of anything you make with it.

You will need a program like fraps to capture video. I dont know the link,but if you look in the NL topics you will find it.
