Looks like Sky Screamer at Six Flags New England has begun testing as it prepares for opening day on May 24. Media day is scheduled for May 15 and Season Pass Preview should take place on May 17th and 18th. Are you ready to ride? Or is it too scary for you?

Update!

This weekend the "world's tallest swing ride" will open exclusively for season pass holders at Six Flags New England, and to the general public starting May 23rd.

The New England SkyScreamer stands over 400 feet tall, twice as tall as any other ride at the theme park. Twenty four riders, seated in cars of two, are lifted up the tower while swinging around at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour. The views from the top of the tower are amazing, and include a sweeping look at the Connecticut River which is adjacent to the park.

"We take great pride in opening the ultimate, biggest and most innovative attractions for our guests," said John Winkler, Six Flags New England's Park President. "The addition of the New England SkyScreamer only enhances our commitment to delivering world-class thrills and attractions to Six Flags New England that we bring every year."

The opening ceremonies for the New England SkyScreamer included inaugural rides by members of the United States Air Force and also cheerleaders from the New England Patriots. For more photos of the ride and a look at the media event that was held to officially open it, check out this feature from SFNEOnline - and make sure to check out the photo of the ride at night!
