Anyone remember this throwback to Corkscrew Follies 1999?

Image

Grapevine was a B&M stand-up with some "unique" elements to it. However, while working on an invert that I wanted to name Grapevine, I figured that I should rather pay homage to the original Grapevine above by modernizing it.

Ta-da! Grapevine in 2015!

Image

I'm actually really proud of this dive loop shaping too...

Image

I'll be posting updates on the project and hope to release it soon!

Looks interesting, I can see the Mantis inspiration in this. I can't fault you for eliminating the sea serpent lol. Make the supports that all go into one footer next to the drop and the loop go into a connected line of footers. It'll look much more realistic.

I am really itching to give this a ride! Looks like you did a really great job of reinventing this in NL2

Grapevine is coming along...I need to add flanges to all of the custom supports, as well as re-do some footers and rail connectors here and there.

We have some of the queue lines done as well! Thanks to mkingy for the railings. They will be a part of Mossy Grounds too!

The entrance plaza will be about here:

You'll also notice the track gets really thick heading out of the dive loop and into the s-bend. Where a support should be, there is the transfer track and storage; therefore, the track had to be much thicker to compensate the weight of the trains for the split second that they fly over it.

Image

And then they pull another Mantis move! As you can tell, this ride was based a LOT off of Manti...Rougarou...

Image

And a helix finale to finish off the update!

Did you check the clearances between the brake track and the side of the helix? It could be the picture angle but they look really close.

I am so on board with this. I always loved the Grapevine layout.

It is the angle. Don't worry, the ride was clearance checked out the wazoo before I started supporting it.

I though you said "I am so bored with this." Grapevine lives on.

That would be so unsafe. That thing would sway like the rise up to the tower on TTD.

Im not sure about TTD but on the way down KK's track sways for a good 2 minutes at least. Either way, you should definitely make a version with RCT supports... you know, just for laughs

How strong do you think are RCT supports? Are they bearable for a middle-sized coaster? :)

I thought since 5-year-old KG watched Disney Channel and Lizzie McGuire was the it girl, it would only be fitting to use Hilary Duff as a soundtrack to my childhood:

Just a little teaser to get the wheels moving...

Grapevine - From RCT to NL2

This was a happy accident. While working on a classic B&M Invert that I had decided upon naming "Grapevine," I stumbled across a memory of a B&M Stand-Up roller coaster in RCT's add-on pack Corkscrew Follies; residing in Funtopia, "Grapevine" was a large Stand-Up that took presence in the park that it resided in. But how could I name an Invert I was working on "Grapevine" and not do justice to the classic? Thus, the Grapevine you're seeing was born!

Image

A modernization of the RCT design, Grapevine is a 4 inversion B&M Stand-Up coaster that takes the best elements of well known Stand-Ups (*cough* Mantis *cough*) while still harkening back to the classic design. I tried my hardest to take everything that was in the original design and bring it up to speed with what is typical of modern day, however some elements were obviously altered or cut out entirely to make it more rider friendly.

Image

I am really pleased with how it turned out! I think it rides fantastic, and I am very proud of the shaping of all of the elements. They truly do feel like B&M did the designing, not me.

Your thumbnail on the ride's download page seems to be broken.

^It happens. One time all my pictures got distorted. A mod will fix it eventually.

You seem to be living up to your "location" right now lol
