world's first wooden coaster to be made entirely from plywood.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

IMO it doesn't make much sense to be disappointed at a layout when it's nowhere near opening date or vertical construction. As long as it's overall fun, I could care less about if it has an interesting layout. Given the type of park Alton Towers is, the theming will probably be an integral part of the experience, and will make the ride more awesome than it would be otherwise.

Even if it is in fact a family coaster, then they'll have another thing that potentially doesn't look alienating to older people, and ride warriors can take a breather from going upside down 14 times.

The elasticity came from the duck tape holding the ole girl together.

I think the general disappointment stems from the countless times that Alton has hinted at a cross valley woodie (or a really, really intense woodie) and we've ended up with the first brand new wooden coaster in the UK in 20 years being a family GCI.

Guys, don't get disappointed by hearing that a family woodie will come! Intensity is not everything. Theming is also the bottom line!

What a coincidence. John Wardley stops designing coasters for Alton and we get this.

Well, they haven't advertised it yet as "The most scary/You have to be older than 23 years/only one ride a day allowed/etc.". So it still could turn out as a thrilling woody. :)

This neighbour comment is my favourite inclusion in the details of the planning application.

This is his take on the ride:

It's worth noting that there are a few other people's NL2 recreations of the layout online, and they are all slightly different in terms of where there are little bits of air and when the banking ends/starts etc.

Prelift is too flat to be anything GCI'ish.

Log Flumes are identical to some water coasters, so we tend to be sad about the removal. :(

New planning has gone in for a large theming piece at the point in the ride where the track crosses over itself.

So it's like the wooden marmalizer? Either that or a giant saw to cut off limbs.
