Looks like the English equivalent of Invadr. Meh, I wish those rumors about a terrain RMC launched coaster came out to be true.

Yeah no doubt. I think it's probably a wise move for Alton though - they're replacing the rapids so it makes sense to stick to something more family orientated. Hopefully they'll pull some flats out thier ass next year too.

We've waited forever for a wooden coaster at Alton Towers and when it comes, it's a family coaster. Can't think what would be a world first about this.
It'll be alright, just another thing to spread visitors around the park a bit more.
Can we hope that this paves the way for a proper woodie in the future, or is this it? Is this the only woodie AT are ever going to build...?

They'll probably advertise it as the world's first wooden magnetic lift. Or maybe the pre-show/sound tunnel will have some kind of first.

It's really too bad about the actual roller coaster though. It doesn't get much worse than that!

I love GCI, but this is just disappointing. Build more rides like Wood Coaster and Viper!

I feel like these pictures reveal nothing really, especially since that top view reveals a very traditional GCI footprint.... Lets wait until the official announcement and then judge
What are these for?

Maybe it will have the world's longest wooden coaster train for maximum forcelessness

Strange that they would go for a forceless ride especially since they already have Air.

Psyclone at SFMM already did that so nope, can't be that.

First wooden coaster with a jump due to height restrictions
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

This is the best I can manage with my phone and the horrendous wifi in my hotel, but here's a 3D layout. What's going on with the lift??

i don't know, as the plans say that there will be a "silent, magnetic lift hill", not a chain one, and i also have no idea why the NL2 model has a straight section in between two lift hills, just why? that's currently the only part i don't like about it.

The main thing I've got an issue with, is... like, would it have been too much to ask for a littl bit of airtime somewhere?

I have a hypothesis that the customer has to ask for air or else GCI won't include it.

Haha!
I'm en route to Canada's Wonderland again this morning for the fourth time in 5 days, I'm on an absolute air time binge this week so anything that doesn't have 20 seconds of airtime is pish to me at the moment

I'm serious about my hypothesis. There is no reason why they can make something so great like the thing in China while the other 90% of their portfolio is total garbage.

Isn't that codes recreation?... Anyway GCI airtime is often from small places on the ride. Like going into or out of a turn they usually have a pop. That recreation isn't anywhere near GCI shaping.

That is TheCodeMaster's conceptual layout, it does not belong to Alton Towers or the people who composed that article.
Ok but how desperate you have to be to voluntarily fly from another country to go to Thorpe?

Ah, right you are. Unfair to judge based on that 3D, however the layout in the planning application still doesn't fill me with a great deal of excitement, I really hope they've got something up their sleeve on this!
